Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thDL came up, but like eihpoms said the B parts were really confusing.(Original post by mkhan9035)
What questions came up guys? Was gonna re-sit it but my teacher told me not to cause I was 1 mark of an A and the ELS paper can still give me an A overall! If DL came up I think I might cry cause I loved DL
Also why was Deligated Legislation titled as Legislation and Deligated Legislation when the questions asked about law reform?Last edited by Hushie; 30-05-2012 at 11:09. -
Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thLaw reform also comes under DL and so can Acts of Parliament (how an act becomes a bill)(Original post by Hushie)

Also why was Deligated Legislation titled as Legislation and Deligated Legislation when the questions asked about law reform?
And what were the part b's about? Whether it was a SI, OIC, Local one (can't remember what its called) or was it about ultra vires, substantive, procedural, unreasonable? -
Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30th
Delegated Legislation with Law Reform + Judicial Precedent came up. Thought it was a good paper, if you take into account the three easiest topics (in my opinion) all came together. I think the way some of the questions were worded on the DL question was pretty weird though.

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thIt was SI, OIC or a bylaw so that was pretty easy. The (c) question is on page 4 of this:(Original post by mkhan9035)

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thI wrote about who can make Statutory Instruments, Bylaws and Orders in Council and I tried to fit in as many examples as possible because I really didn't understand what information the question wanted it was worded so strange.(Original post by jk122)
Happps when i saw DL what did everyone write for part B? I got my answers from the source
I only said things like "as stated in source b" once for each answer I wrote, I didn't go into too much detail with it

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thThe question wasnt worded like that it asked for you to explain which bodies would be used or something which really confused me(Original post by TheInvincibles14)

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thThe bodies would be an OIC, SI or a Bylaw then! Remember OIC is done in an emergency or time of war, SI is done for the ministers i.e. impose a driving ban etc so would be the responsibility of the minister of travel and a bylaw is anything i.e. no alcohol zones! I didn't sit this paper but i hope it went well for everyone(Original post by Hushie)

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thYeah, so for the bylaws you start off saying that it will be made by local authorities. For the Order's in Council you start off by saying the relevant body is the Privy Council then you go on to explain. For statutory instruments you say they will be made in government departments. OCR need to word it differently otherwise it'll just seem as if they're recycling questions, they have to be sneaky.(Original post by Hushie)

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thBut they're types of legislation. If that's what they wanted I don't see why they wouldn't word it in the way shown in that question linked because to me and in the context of the source a body is a local council etc. I'm just really confused by it haha(Original post by mkhan9035)

Yeah it said bodies for part B what does that actually mean lol??
I also just wrote as stated in source A/B is that enough? Im worried i needed to add more -
Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thTo be fair I can't help unless i know what the question asked but even for types of legslation they're laws so its probably asking you to state examples of leg for an OIC, SI and bylaw(Original post by Hushie)
But they're types of legislation. If that's what they wanted I don't see why they wouldn't word it in the way shown in that question linked because to me and in the context of the source a body is a local council etc. I'm just really confused by it haha -
Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thI wrote the same as you i didnt write the types of DL i got the answers from the source eg local authorities, gov ministers is that right?? if not i just lost 15 marks boy!(Original post by Hushie)

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30th
I answered the question on Judicial precedent, thinking that the majority of people will answer D.L due to it being so easy. Looking at the role and composite of the L.C i think it means the role and structure of it? e.g. Chairman etc.
How did anyone else find the question on J.P? -
Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30th
Judicial precedent was by far easier than DL in my opinion. I was taken totally by suprise that Precedent was repeated again. The topics were similar to June last year although I believe OCR made a typo by stating the DL question was about Legislation and Delegated Legislation. It should have been Law Reform and Delegated Legislation. My students were very happy with the DL question as we had revised those same questions yesterday.

Re: OCR AS Law exam - Sources of Law- May 30thI think that is enough, thats all I've done in mocks in class and I've never been said to include the source more(Original post by jk122)
