contact lenses - need an opinion on whether to buy them online
Basically, I went to specsavers, you'll see below a similar post, however, replies seem to have stalled. I know the full prescription for my right eye as I'm agnostic, and I remember the woman saying 'XR' Frequency extra range. They only come in one size, however, I only have a glasses prescription, so it doesn't have the Base Curve, or diameter, do these things matter a lot? I basically want to buy them to practise with because I can't do it when I get to the shop, and they don't let me take them without doing it there first

Would it be okay to just buy one lens to practise with first? Will I damage my eyes, I can't see the difference between at home and at the shop, because I'm 99% sure of the prescription for my right eye. :/ Also, I can buy them online right?

    Cheeers!!

Don't order contacts online when you haven't shown the optom that you can safely insert and remove them and follow the care system. Just keep going in to the optom and getting practice. It's worth persevering. The glasses prescription is unlikely to be correct for ordering contact lenses due to the position of the correcting lens being on the eye (rather than around 12mm in front. This change in distance means the prescription has to be altered to account for the change.

What does your faith have to do with anything (you mean astigmatic I reckon!)

They won't mind - you're worth more to them in contacts than in glasses.

Don't buy them online, worst thing that could happen is that you get them, put one in your eye and can't take it out again. I had trouble putting mine in and out at first and on my first session I had to get the optician to take it out for me lol. I also have astigmatism. What is it that's problematic is it more putting them in or taking them out? or both?

That's because it isn't safe for someone to put in contact lenses if they aren't sure they can take them out again. A contact lens stuck in your eye can blind you if you don't seek help appropriately, and sadly people can be extremely stupid when problems happen - hence the unwillingness of shops to trust you.

If they let you take lenses home and you suffer damage as a result, they won't have a leg to stand on in court.

Buying lenses online (when you clearly don't know what you're doing) is plain crazy. You need to keep trying in the shop. If they get impatient with you, try another optician who'll let you practice as much as you need.

p.s. I think you mean that you have astigmatism, rather than agnosticism. Quite different, believe me.
