this is horrendously unfair on immigrants, especially in the current economic climate, no way I can support this.

We need new rules for immigrant welfare but this Bill is just so extreme I doubt it could ever achieve anything more than fringe support in the House.

I'm very inclined to vote 'no' because I suspect this Bill, similar to the last one, is motivated by xenophobia and an irrational fear of immigrants more than any fiscal sense - having piss poor ghettos for immigrants without welfare would cost far more than the meagre sums they are currently given. Also, having such stringent rules without bringing in any additional funding for the UKBA is just asking for a massive increase in illegal immigration.

Unfair? Benefits for British people. Benefits aren't a right, they are as the name suggests, a benefit.

6 months is a bit generous if you ask me, it is plenty of time to find work

    No, this is terrible.

The wording is vague and why can't under 18 year olds claim welfare? I was on income support when I was 16....

They are legally still Children and are the responsibility of their parents who should supplement their income (if any) accordingly.

What nonsense. What if the parents are also on welfare? What if they refuse?

This is hilariously bad and if it passes the house should be ashamed.

On that note I leave you to it.

If you are under 18 you are a child and your parents have a LEGAL responsibility to either look after you or provide you with somebody who can. No if's, no but's.

I really can't see how this is hilariously bad, seeming as a shadow coalition are trying to pass the Fair Pay Bill, which is BAAADDD and quite frankly laughable.

This is a sensible bill, leaving benefits to british people and people who have been around long enough to pay their taxes.

Someone has an unhealthy obsession with immigrants. As a result, we have yet more misguided nonsense.

Amend 18 to 16 (pretty sure that your party has passed acts lowering lots of things to 16 before) and harmonise the civil partner issue.

    Other than that, aye.

I would add that you need to ammend your devolution notes given that the Federal Britain Act 2010 was repealed.

Given it doesn't look like the other half of this will go through, why is there reason to vote for this? No.

Question: what if the immigrant is in the country, claimed JSA for say, 5 months, and then stopped? Would they still be deported?

I don't see why not. The job of the British welfare state is to support British people and Eu nationals due to our obligations under EU treaties.

Nobody yet has explained their reasoning behind calling this bill a joke. I am up for constructive criticism.

I have stated in the past that this bill fails to deal with EU and asylum seeking immigrants. I am willing to compromise and say yes to this bill.

I have stated in the past that this bill fails to deal with EU immigrants.
And I have stated to you that you cannot do anything about EU immigrants! I also questioned you about it in the government forum as to why you think you can and you never answered.
