Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeWe have TopHat interested in being on the Committee.(Original post by Lipvig)
Well, nearly everyone has at least started to pick MP's, although
I haven't heard anything from Labour. Any updates on what's happening? -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeWonderful, although I still need a second member unless you would rather barnetland takes the free place.(Original post by davidmarsh01)
We have TopHat interested in being on the Committee. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment Committee
If we don't have to nominate current students for membership of the Lords, can I suggest for the arts and culture:
Julie Walters
Judi Dench
Amy Childs
and Imogen Thomas
and to ensure representation for music and sport:
Mario Balotelli
Geoffrey Boycott (Durham students once wanted him to be beatified)
Liam Gallagher
and Nigel Blackwell. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeSo the Libertarians will not be represented in the committee?(Original post by jesusandtequila)
I believe my Party is more interested in watching paint dry. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeIndeed, not a great shame.(Original post by xXedixXx)
So the Libertarians will not be represented in the committee? -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeThen.. do you mind if other parties take up the Libertarian seats on the committee?(Original post by jesusandtequila)
Indeed, not a great shame. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeIt could be better to stick JPKC and barnetlad on the Committee though:(Original post by xXedixXx)

(Original post by JPKC)
QFAIf you had any other party taking more seats, it would perhaps be unfair, but I can understand your eagerness and logic behind the sentiment though.(Original post by barnetlad)
QFA -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeWell yeah, my thinking is that the positions on the committee should at least be used by someone; I don't really mind who takes the positions. If JPKC and/or barnetlad don't want the positions then I think it should go to the 1st and / or second largest parties respectively.(Original post by toronto353)

Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeI agree that this is a pointless waste of time. I thought it was fair that I let anyone in Labour who wants to be on it to be on it though.(Original post by cambo211)
I chose not to take part because it seems like such a useless exercise so i'd rather the seats the libers chose not to take dont just go to the other parties.
Not my call though. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeOne of the possible discussion points will be the use of a MHoL.(Original post by TopHat)
I should point out that I thought the seats were merely for discussion. In said discussions, I was simply going to point out how useless a MHoL would be. If that's not considered a viable option, I have no desire to take a seat. -
Re: Model House of Lords Establishment Committee
I raised this with the Admins at the meet yesterday and I'm afraid there isn't going to be a sub-forum for this committee at this time. It was felt that there wasn't going to be enough content planned to justify it. This doesn't mean no committee of course, but you may need to rethink how it is organised.

Re: Model House of Lords Establishment CommitteeWe could set up our own forum.. Or, go on IRC and have meetings or something.(Original post by Metrobeans)
