    Hi

i got my car today i love it so fun to drive, i actually didnt think it would be as good as it is !

its a 07 ford fiesta LX and ive looked in my car i cant seem to see a aux IN socket/port but on the radio ( ford 6000cd ) .. i have a ipod classic 2009 model so i was really hoping i would be able to sort out something so i could listen to music. now i have heard of those fm transmitters but i heard they get alot of interference and static. i know you can get those radio/cd players with a aux IN but my problem is the car well look at the picture below its looks like a impossible job to remove all that .. and wasteful. it does say in the handbook about a aux in socket but maybe thats for models like the ghia or something. compared to my mothers vw golf ( new model ) its quite loud on the road but its understandable when you think of price etc

ID:	142404 i think its the exact same as that except for the pty/ ta .. i could be wrong but its lashing rain outside i dont fancy checking!

is there any alternative to a fm transmitter and if there isnt whats the best brand ? i can survive on cd's but id rather not have them there because of taking up space i have too many cd wallet cases already!

    thank for reading

Have a look for an AUX input (same size as the plug on the end of earphones) around by the gearstick/cupholder. If that is the original factory fitted radio, which has an AUX button, the car will probably have an AUX input somewhere.

Sorry - should have read your post properly, if you cant find one anywhere, chances are its on the back of the radio, you could buy an AUX cable and slide the radio out, plug it in, and then feed the cable into the glove box so you can plug in your ipod.

Oh my days, I read it wrong again. Just ignore me. It really isn't my day today. Good luck. (P.S. ask on a ford fiesta LX owners forum? - you'll get the answer there for sure)

the only thing i can see in or around the cupholder and infront of the gearstick is that thing where you can charge your phone or use a cigarette lighter. its 12v or something i dont know its a thingy i know when i open the glove compartment i see alot of wires and stuff at the back of it well when i peek in anyway... if the aux is at the back of the radio i should be able to get it into the glove compartment nicely and still feed it through like you said .. i will have to wait a few days though until my bro or some really good car person is around. i dont want to go poking around at it by myself. it annoys me when they have aux in the car and on the handbook but no aux port in plain sight

yeah i will try and find one of those forums and ask thank you

So you definitely don't have a little port near the gearstick, like this?

Remember you're looking for the hole, hot the 3.5mm jack. If you have the port you can get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to attach an ipod.

If not then you're probably restricted to an FM transmitter unless you rip out the stereo and put a new one in.

I replaced the tape deck in my Ford Ka a few weeks ago and the aux in was on the back. You can get those FM transmitters that send music from your iPod (and I'm assuming other music players) to a channel on your radio. Sound quality isn't great but if you don't want to replace its an option.

when you say tape deck you mean cassettes right ? do you think the aux in mine would be in the back ? i just got the ipod classic because it can hold 40,000 so i dont have to pick and choose my music anymore.

i would replace it but its just the whole unit that would have to be gutted sounds messy and expensive im not sure maybe i will find it at the back hopefully

Yea cassettes lol. Hence why I found it necessary to replace. I had to get a new fascia for mine as well when I ripped it out but it wasn't that bad. Sounds to me like it's more than likely gonna be at the back. Got to be worth a look anyway if you're gonna be able to get it out relatively easily.

This might be the right one but you want something like this

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/ESCORT-FIEST...sr=1-1-catcorr

I got the Ka one and although it's not perfect it was worth it to get a decent car stereo!

My car didn't have an AUX in it, because my mum didn't want me "getting distracted" playing with my mp3 changing songs or what not (not that I would, but you know what parents are like!), so I had to get one without it. I just ended up making mix CDs, not ideal, but a good workaround.

This is the cable to plug into the back of the Ford 6000CD head unit:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-AUX-I...1#ht_785wt_914

You need to get the right radio keys, slide the head unit out, plug this in the back and then feed it out of the glove box or in front of the gear stick, and then push the head unit back in again. Easy peasy, and nicely integrated then too.

That is very much down to personal taste. I've listened to stuff through FM transmitters and the quality is awful compared to an AUX lead, which itself isn't as good as straight off the CD. The link I posted was to something for less than twelve quid - which would buy you a really ****ty FM transmitter. You're talking about fifty quid for one which might even resemble good quality, but even then that's entirely dependant on the level of radio traffic in the area. Plugging the wire I linked to into the back of the radio will cost the OP less for marginally more time and effort.

yeah my mother just gave me that speech aswell but i notice when im driving and i have music on it well i cant explain it but it helps me concentrate more on the road and nothing else. but its always been that way with everything lol .. the car is pretty loud on the bad roads around here aswell so it would be nice to have a bit of tunes on i dont want to clutter my car with cds and the radio stations around here dont play the best stuff now

    and this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=AF1V4BCU864HM

    and this too
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3AGE3ZJYRAB2V

do you think thats right for my car ? i hope it is anyway

    2007 ford fiesta with a 6000cd player

i might try and get my brother to do it or bring it to a local mechanic if i cant do it myself. i will try and feed it through the glove comparment. dont want wires everywhere plus it would be safer for my ipod to be hidden from view incase i forget to unhook it and its left in the open.

Yep those should be all you need. You won't need the mechanic to do it. Getting the radio out might need some trial and error and require you to 'feel' your way around with the radio keys to unclip the right bit, but it's very doable. If your brother has taken a radio out before then you could do it in under half an hour. It's pretty easy stuff. There will be guides online as to how to remove that specific radio from Fords if you do a bit of Googling.
