Personal Statement 2013
Hi everyone,
I was just looking for a bit of advice with the above. Does anyone know whether it is required as a graduate entrant into the undergraduate 5 year course to have to mention starting a degree course at another University? I started a course and almost completed the first year however I did not finish the year so didn't gain any credits.
Strictly speaking this wouldn't count towards education on UCAS as I didn't complete the year but I don't want to waste valuable characters in the PS dwelling on it or not going into enough detail either and them discarding my application. I personally think the explanation would be best left for interview. Can anyone offer advice? I am also waiting for responses from the medical schools who I have emailed.
Thanks -
Re: Personal Statement 2013I wouldn't waste space on it in the PS. I would list it in the education section of the form.(Original post by medictobe)

Re: Personal Statement 2013
its a big dilemma... I can think of why it is useful... it really depends on your reason and how much it take up on your personal statement.... if I am in the same position I will try to write it on my draft anyway... then when you go through the draft you will have a better idea of whether it should stay in there or not... and by writing it out it help you think about it more closely which also help to prepare you to answer this if they ask you this in the interview

Dont waste space on it, it just draws attention to the fact that you did not complete a degree. You want to give that aspect as little attention as possible because it's a negative part of your application. Don't write about it in your PS.
If you get to interview stage, then they will most likely ask what you are doing during the year, and then you will have to admit too it - be open about it then and make sure you properly give them your reasons, but most likely the reason is too convoluted to bother waffling about it in your personal statement.
