Way to scare someone off, even though it is true lol.
Just a tip for Comparative 20 marker. It's definitely going to be Australia because USA has been asked twice in a row. I think it will be a comparison of sports (Rugby Union and League/ Aussie Rules and Football) -
Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012Ohhh just to clear something up, i meant intense revision in terms of past papers etc. and tbh we've done continuous essay practice over the course of the year.(Original post by Robinellis32)

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I thought practicals and EPIP were marked on bands not grades?(Original post by MissGeorge-x)

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012Yes they are but they are then converted to grades because for this year it was out of 60 i think and i had 56 so i knew that is definitely an A* + they have the grade boundaries for it on the OCR website depending you know your mark(Original post by Robinellis32)

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I know I got 18/20 (Band 1) in my EPIP in front of my teacher and Band 1 in my practical as well. However, I couldn't make my assessment day due to illness. I had a doctors note and they accepted it, so not sure what mark I got overall.(Original post by Emy25)

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
I haven't started revising for this yet, getting slightly concerned at how lazy I am. Got a pretty high band 2in both I think, I do football and my mate and teacher said that I was the best player on moderationday yet other peoplegot band 1 which annoyed me, oh well.

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I find it annoying that PE and PE teachers don't emphasis enough on essay structure compared to other subjects.(Original post by BIG S)
Does anyone have a specific exam technique for the 20 markers? E.g. PEE? How many points? Etc.
Cheers
It all depends on what the question is asking, but will more than likely be critically evaluate. So, I would personally do;
Definition of what is being asked (Knowledge marks)
Positives of what is being asked (2-4 points)
Negatives of what is being asked (2-4 points)
Evaluate, personal opinion/what is best/argument for and against, of what is being asked (Majority of marks are from this paragraph)
Conclusion (Shows that you have critically evaluated question and came to a conclusion)Last edited by Robinellis32; 11-06-2012 at 15:25. -
Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I hope cricket comes up as the essay! However, I've only seen bathing and swimming come up as an essay totally based on the case studies.(Original post by amcc12)
any one got any predictions?
I think (hope) cricket comes up as an essay for historical, its very rarely on the exam at all.
Also hope the energy systems come up as the essay for E+S Physiology
I would love energy system as an essay, but not about the Aerobic system though

I think there will definitely be a question on Flexibility. It could possibly be a 20 marker like design a training to improve. It's the only one that hasn't been asked extensively in terms of health components.
Anyone have any predictions for Psychology?

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
Hi Guys, Im sitting the PE exam, not long now (!!). My units are Historical, Psychology and Physiology. Im dreading psych, I just don't like it :/
But one of my teachers gave me some predictions for Physiology, they're the sections that haven't come up in exams yet in the new specification:
- Defining energy (in terms of kinetic, chemical and potential).
- Identifying the predominant energy system used related to type of exercise- in terms of intensity and duration.
- Methods of evaluating aerobic capacity and VO2 max, training to improve aerobic capacity, the energy system and food fuel used in aerobic work and physiological adaptations of training. (There is ALOT of this section that hasn't come up.. potential 20 marker?!)
- Types of training to develop strength- including sets, reps and % of 1RM.
- Define flexibility, factors affecting flexibility, methods of evaluating flexibility, physiological adaptations and an ability to plan a programme to develop flexibility. (Again there is ALOT that hasn't come up.. another potential 20 marker?)
- Define body composition and describe methods to assess it (adv and dis).
- Define periodisation.
- Explain what they are, the positives and negatives of: creatine supplements and human growth hormone, blood doping and RhEPO, use of cooling aids.
Hope this helps with revision.. just remember they're only predictions! -
