Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
[QUOTE=WB12;38188546]Think cricket or tennis are likely to be a 20 marker, athletics and football have already been asked as 20 markers[/QUOTE.
Yeai think crickets coming up too though I think tennis is to small to ask for full 20 marks.
Can anyone predict psychology or physiology 20 markers? -
Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
for a critically evaluate goal setting question (20)
can anyone help me to structure it in order to reach the top band
e.g
* first define goal setting then adv and disadv
*Goal setting is influenced by 4 factors to correctly implement goal setting use- SMARTER OBJECTIVE- explain each briefly using sporting examples for each
*goal types can be divided into two groups: time based and activity based- talk about those
at this point i need to CRITICALLY EVALUATE NOT TALK ABOUT ALL THE COMPONENTS
this is where im stuck what do i say? adv or disadv of goal setting?
any help will be appreciated

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
I recommend doing the Jan 2010 paper as all the questions on that haven't come up in a while, also apart from PNF there has been very little on flexibility? So that will be the focus of my revision today. Also on the physiology section barely anything on social falcilation has come up appart from a 6 marker 2 years ago, and self efficacy and confidence section hasn't had much on. And need to achieve was a 4 marker in June 2010 but nothing since then... Hope that helps.
xx

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012
I'm not sure if this will be any use, but my teacher said for any critically evaluate question, need to achieve, arousal and personality should be addressed briefly. Also you should mention the product, performance, and process goals in your answer as well as the various theorists who have claimed which ones produce the best outcome eg cox said performance are better than product, and filby said for every product there should be performance and process goals. A total focus on product goals can create anxiety - which could link you into arousal by defining anxiety as a negative emotional state associated with feelings of worry relating to high levels of arousal, which would inhibit performance.
Hope I've helped. Xx -
I'm not looking forward to the physiology and historical questions tomorrow! I feel as though I've done loads of revision yet none of its in my mind
home it all comes out tomorrow! I no
E cricket doesn't come up, as I don't really know how to structure that 20marker :/ any suggestions?
P.s good luck everyone

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I have no idea, I found a past question on flexibility:(Original post by xcristalx)
hi
i too thought flexibility could come up because i dont think i've seen a paper where it has?
could anyone help me with a 20 marker for it?
Describe two types of flexibility stretching that could be used to develop flexibility. Explain the physiological changes to sketetal muscles and connective tissue after flexibility training. [6] june07
You could have static stretching: an active stretch involving a performer taking a joint to a position beyond its point of resistance,a passive stretch using a partner to move the joint past a position beyond its point of resisitance, with the position held for 6+seconds. Ballistic stretching: momentum is used to take a joint through its full range of movement, involves swinging/ bouncing eg a gymnast doing a high leg kick. PNF using a partner to take a joint just beyond its point of resistance and performs an isometric contraction for 6 to 10 seconds, the muscle is relaxed and then stretched again.
The muscle length increases because reflex mechanism of muscle spindle occurs and a greater range of movement and so the muscle spindle becomes used to the length of the stretched muscle. The connective tissue increases in elasticity.
Jan 2010: describe a 6 month training programme that will develop aerobic capacity. Justify your preprogrammed by referring to the theory of periodisation and principles of training. [20]
Initial assessment -age, current activity levels,
Fitness testing- multistage fitness test to estimate vo2 max, cooper 12 minute run based on distance covered. PWC170 use of heart rate.
Macro cycle- long term objective, over 6 months, to reach physiological peak at the correct time, increase vo2 max, or increase vo2 % max at which OBLA occurs, made up of a number of mess cycles.
Mesocycle - medicum term objective, increase cv endurance, could be pre season, off season, comp season, made up of micro cycles.
Pre- season- characterised by development of all round fitness, progressive increase in intensity/ focus on aerobic fitness. Closer to event training load is reduced and recovery periods made longer, ensure fuel levels are up for event. Eg carbo- loading.
Comp- maintainence of aerobic fitness levels, training sessions reduced to avoid burnout.
Off- rest/ low level activity/ cross training.
With the principles of training, personally I could slot them into talking about the periodisation rather than separating them, maybe define specificity at first, and put overload in with the burnout and variance with cross training, I dunno.
Good luck everyone! Has anyone done a 20 marker on social facilitation? Xx -
Social Facilitation you'd talk about the Drive Theory and that the crowd increases arousal but the effect is different depending on stage of learning, personality and complexity of task. Include home advantage an proximity effect all which increase arousal and social facilitation.
Strategies to combat social inhibition are :
Selective attention
Mental rehearsal
Positive self talk
Practice in front of an audience
Overlearn skills
Confidence building strategies

LT goals do not result in immediate change of behaviour and if set on their own they can be daunting(Original post by Emy25)

ST are said to be the most effective and are useful in the attainment of LT goals
Product goals are not effective as they create anxiety and they are often controlled by external factors.
Process and Performance goals are more effective because they give control to the athlete
Goals which determine exercise adherence needs to be flexible
Goals of moderate difficulty are the best. If too easy then motivation decreases and if too hard they may cause frustration
That's all I could find

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I know 20 markers are absolutely crazy!(Original post by Skkc16)
My brain is about to explode. I've revised a lot but sometimes I look at questions and don't know the answer ha. I don't know why they felt the need to do 20 markers. The old Spec was a dream

aww dw it will come to you when your writing in the exam. If you have revised alot just take a break for a bit. As for me i havent revised that much so im cracking on
btw do you have any last minute advice in terms of prioritising revision to learn certain topics for comparative? i havent looked at it much so i can only do so much really. -
Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012I'm thinking aus association football, and government policy, plus values hasn't been on in a while. But not sure overall.... Xx(Original post by Emy25)

Re: A2 OCR PE G453 - 20th June 2012How does the A* actually work out? Don't you have to get 80% on the AS paper and 90% on the A2 paper?(Original post by Princess charlie)
Am not looking forward to this paper but I saw on a thread earlier that last year 60% was an A* why do they make this paper so hard...
Does anyone have any predictions for the physiology section?

I agree about the football question on Australia it is quite popular as a small marker so it could be a 20 marker.(Original post by athompson1803)

Is government policy all about the ASC?
