Switching from Joint to Single honours?
I've got an offer to study English and Theatre Studies at Warwick this October but I'm starting to worry I may not enjoy the Theatre Studies as much as I previously thought. I'm truly hating on the dire A Level course and my interests have just generally shifted. I'm considering wanting to change although I'm not 100percent sure.

If I do decide to change is it easier to before or after I start? How easy is it to change? Does anyone have experience with this?

I changed my course at the end of first year from French and Italian to straight Italian. It was really easy - I just went and saw my personal tutor and the head of department and they processed it for me.

The advantage of waiting means you get to try it out. If you decide within three weeks (I think) that you hate it, you might be able to change your modules/course at that point.

ahh thanks that's reassuring I think I will definately start the course first because Warwick is the number one place for Theatre studies and there's a good chance I'm just being put off by the A level

Sounds like a good plan I know a few people who do Theatre Studies and they all seem to really enjoy it. I thiiiink a girl who was in one of my first year French classes switched to single honours Theatre, although I'm not sure because that was a few years ago and I've not seen her since!

If you want the official department line on switching degrees, you can always email the course secretary to double check current policy. They can't take your current offer away so you don't exactly have anything to lose.
