Hi! I'm looking for some advice on transferring universities after my 1st year. I would especially like advice on writing to potential universities regarding moving there!

Just email the undergrad admissions/head of department or someone like that at the uni(s) you're interested in transferring too. Ask if they'd consider your application to transfer into second year and tell them what course you're on, and the uni you're at, as well as what course you want to transfer onto.

If they have spaces then you'll apply through ucas, with entry point 2. They'll ask for information on your current course, because they'll need to see if the courses match up. If the courses do match then they'll give you an offer based on your results at the end of year: it's likely to be something like getting. 2.1, and a minimum of 50% or 55% in each module, but it'll depend on how similar your courses are.

Also, if they say they'll consider your application, contact your supervisor/personal tutor at your current uni, because they'll be the one to provide your reference on ucas (they'll be supportive, don't worry).

    I got a reply saying
' In order to apply for entry onto our courses you need to apply via UCAS. You can apply via UCAS for direct entry onto Level 2 of the course and please provide details of the units you have/are studying and your marks in your personal statement.'
also, would i need to write a whole new personal statement?

    Re: Advice on transferring university
When I applied, I just modified my previous personal statement. I just updated it a bit to include my first year, and as I was only applying to one uni I just explained a bit why I wanted to move.

It's odd that they want you to list your modules on your personal statement though, I had to send a copy of my academic transcript from the uni, and I threw in the syllabus to each module I was doing as well. If I were you I'd send another email asking if they want anything like that (although they may contact you later for it, but as it's late on in the year, you want it done as quickly as possible, and transcripts can take a while to get hold of).
