    AS exam retakes
    Hi,
I'm currently in the lower sixth of my sixth form and have recently received my jan module results. I'm taking the three sciences and maths. I got 3 A's (just about for bio) and a B, 1 mark off an A for chem. After remarking it went down by one mark so that's 3 UMS off an A. I'm hoping to do medicine at uni and I was just wondering if I should retake that particular module in the summer? I am kinda confident for the unit 2 chem exam next month, but then again i was for this exam also. So just in case i just about miss an A in the summer, I'm considering retaking, as I really need 4 A's at AS. Just wondering what people would do in my position? Ideally I wouldn't want to retake but just to be sure I think it may be worth it. Thanks.

I did lots of AS retakes in year 13, By lots I mean I did 15 exams that year including my A2 modules in the 3 subjects I did.

    1) Prepare well for your A2 modules, revise little and often and do past papers.
    2) It's better to have high AS module grades as A2 is harder and it's nice to have a little something to fall back on ( though if this happens don't get complacent obviously).
    3) I'd maybe retake the B, do lots of past papers, see if you can get a high A, but make sure that you put your summer modules first!

Basically you got great grades, be proud of yourself! But stay consistent, work hard for summer, it'll be worth it when you're sitting on good predictions.

Yeah, I suggest you resit it It will be safer to do so rather than relying on Unit 2 to boost your grade. Let's face it, Unit 2 is harder, so it's best to have the highest mark you can achieve for Unit 1 to give you the best chance. Universities don't care if you resit one or two of your january modules as long as it's still in your AS year. I'm resitting Chemistry as well, I was incredibly confident at the time but really panicked in the exam and didn't get the score I wanted.
