    Lipsy's use of emaciated models
I have just come across some seriously concerning images whilst just casually browsing the internet... Does Lipsy think that these images are safe to use to promote their brand, which is directly targeted at young girls? Do you?

It might not be healthy, but they do look so nice.

Mind, curvy girls are pretty hot too.

And the girl in the first picture doesn't look underweight tbh, even though the other two obviously do.
My post wasn't about whether its 'hot' or not (the fact you find them hot, frankly, I find a bit disturbing) but whether its safe to use images of girls that are so obviously massively underweight to promote a brand that's aimed at teenage girls..?

Jesus, the girl in the bottom photo is seriously thin!

In answer to your question, I just don't understand why we can't have a healthy sized models. Why does it have to either be super-skinny or plus-sized? Especially in the mainstream clothes markets.

I do think it is damaging to young girls, along with heavy Photoshopping. You just have to look at pro-Ana tumblrs and some of the girls running those are 14 or 15. It's really upsetting to think that they are starving themselves to try and reach their own perceived 'ideal' that they very likely will never ever be.

That second one is definitely very disturbing. Although when I look on the website they don't actually look as underweight as that

The first one just looks slim, but the girl in the second looks horribly skinny and no I don't think it's ok to use girls that look like her, because I very much doubt she looks like that naturally and whilst in a healthy state.

The first one is about my size, don't really appreciate being called emaciated. She looks fine. The second one is worrying. This probably won't go unnoticed by the Daily Mail or something. It's very rare to see photograph models that thin, especially for such a popular brand. Usually it's the elitist catwalks.

The second one is terrible. Shops need to start using healthier looking models because you will get young, impressionable girls trying to achieve that look. It's just irresponsible for Lipsy to use a model who looks like that.

Also, before I get the people who are naturally that size, I'm not calling you unattractive or unhealthy. I'm just saying for the majority of girls that look isn't a realistic ideal when you are living a healthy lifestyle so it's unsuitable as it is selling a look that is only achievable for most by starvation.

First one is fine, I think. Slim, yeah, but nothing wrong with her. The second one though... my god...

The second image is grim. The first one looks really thin but it looks natural, I can see every bone in the second picture.

Don't know why they'd even have those models in the second one. Not only is it a terrible example, but they also look terrible!
