Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

I love Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings' scores, but my favourites from the past year or so are the Drive and We Need to Talk About Kevin soundtracks.

I am an expert on film soundtracks, and I think the following are among the best scores ever released:

    El Cid by Miklos Rozsa
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Howard Shore
    Cutthroat Island by John Debney
How to Train Your Dragon by John Powell
    Independence Day by David Arnold
A Passage to India by Maurice Jarre
Dances with Wolves by John Barry
    Hook by John Williams
Jason and the Argonauts by Bernard Herrmann

This probably isn't considered a soundtrack, but the music to Bridget Jones was great. When she sings or rather mouths 'all by myself' is classic, but not as amazing as Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy having a proper playground fight!

I really liked the soundtrack for Drive, I'd heard good things and didn't think it was my thing but after watching the film I've been listening to the songs more and more.

    Suckerpunch, for sure.
Definitely! The soundtrack made that film!

Hanna, it's by the Chemical Brothers and is edited in so well that you almost forget it's playing until it stops and leaves the scene desolate.
