I do a few computing modules.

It's ok, would imagine it would be very easy if you were half decent at computing and had a little experience with programming beforehand. Though that might be CS at uni's in general.

Teaching... some are good some are bad. Might be worth checking the league tables.

I've recently graduated from Aston University in Computer Science. Their teaching is quite good but I found they weren't always approachable (just the select few). Overall, it was a good experience and I learned a lot! Most people I know who studied Computing courses from other institutions came out with 1st and 2:1 degrees, but not knowing a thing about their field of study. At Aston you will be pushed to learn an incredible amount, and at times you will be overloaded with work which is only for a 10 credit module lets say (120 credits in a year). However, one thing I learned is that IT isn't just about passing exams and getting a 1st class degree. You need to learn as much as you can - it really is an endless amount, but Aston gives you the platform for this. You will become a specialist in a sector you feel comfortable in after being exposed to tens of different fields throughout the course.

So the only thing I can say now is don't be afraid of the workload! The teaching is good, the course is good, the University is good, the learning curve is a hell of a lot but its all worthwhile.

I am now working as a performance tester - a role which very few graduates from any University would naturally go into. The module which exposed me to this was the Testing and Reliable Software Engineering (in an Agile framework).

    Good Luck.

Not really. It's quite self-explanatory. It's an opinion that probably others may not share or may have not experienced. I wouldn't worry about it though. A lot of the material is covered in the lectures and the lecturers to have open office hours where you can simply book a slot and have a 1-2-1 meeting with them. They also have a programming support office for more technical based support.

    Thanks.
