That's pretty poor. Make sure you have a read through first then it won't take long to go through them with him.
Yeah, going to take 40-45 minutes to get to test centre from my house. Then try to do each manoeuvre once, then go through show me tell me questions. Then try and take a leak before my test. ~Vomit.

At the end of the day it's one of the few tests in life where you can be satisfied you couldn't have prepared any better, you can't regret not doing last minute revision etc. Good luck with it.

Just failed my first test. Got one major for my reversing around a corner, finished too wide apparently! So annoyed, if i'd of pulled in a bit closer i would of passed.

Grr... I'm so peeved off. I failed on my test this morning with one major. It was during the turn round a corner maneuver. As I was turning round the corner I saw a van coming up the road behind me, so I stopped, then the van stopped too at a reasonable distance back and flashed their light, so I thought 'fair enough, if they're willing to wait I'll continue' so I continued round the corner and started to straighten up, but then the van moved forward right behind me before I could complete the maneuver. He probably thought I would only turn round a bit and then go straight forward and turn to the right when in fact I hadn't finished straightening up properly yet. So I failed for getting too close to the van. On one hand fair enough I should've had a quicker reaction to him moving forward, but it's a bit harsh 'cause he was edging forward as I was edging back so he must've had a much better view at what was going on, so it was kinda his fault as well.

Next time if the same thing happens, and a heads up if it happens to anyone else, if a car stops behind you while you're reversing round a corner and flashes a light to let you come back, don't accept the offer to carry on, I'm just gonna go back round the corner and let them pass.

It sucks that just cause one person decided to take that particular road at that particular time it means I have to change some plans, waste more time and money and wait over a month to do it again. Sounds mean but I hope that van driver is having a bad day.

Is there no way you could have gone back into the road and done it again or are these manoeuvres a one time try.

    Thanks.

FelicityX had the same problem as you today as well. My instructor says "Priority is given not taken" so in this case just for the test I would have waited, you never know what these idiot driver's would do. Don't worry as long as that was the only thing then next time you are sure to pass. Shame that was the only thing. Did anything else on your test? How was it? Did he take you on residential roads more than city roads?

    Thanks.

The reason i was too wide is because i turned too late into the road, it was torrential rain, so was having a bit of trouble deciding on my point of turn. I tried to pull in a bit closer to the curb but i just kept getting flustered. I can do the manoeuvre with no problems usually, i'm SO annoyed with myself. If i just took more time and thought about what i was doing then i probably would of been ok.

The examiner said if i'd of put half a turn more on, then i would of passed!

ugh failed my second test today!

My instructor is putting in an appeal though because the examiner gave me a serious fault when it was only meant to be a minor - i approached a junction and made observations etc and saw a bike coming a while away, pulled out into the road and drove up to speed, apparently the bike had to slow down for me a tiny bit but still that doesn't warrant a serious.

Also apparently he was being unprofessional - saying 'aren't you going to go then' at roundabouts and saying 'we're going to be here all day if you don't pull out soon' i.e. encouraging me to not be so hesitant and then failing me when I take his advice!

    argh!

That's a good quote. I think a lot of drivers (including me today) have the mindset that if someone gives you priority, it would be rude not to take it. But during your practical test you have to be extra careful, and if you think they might mess it up for you then just don't do it. They probably don't even realise you're taking a driving test. It was just a bit annoying for me 'cause I was already in reverse gear and doing well with the maneuver so far, so it would've been annoying to go back to first and start over again. But I suppose you have to take your time with these things! And yeah everything else went ok. It was pretty much all main city roads actually, no residentials apart from to do the maneuver. It went by quite fast! Good luck with your test tomorrow!

That's really unlucky.. I feel your frustration!!

Wow, he sounds intimidating! That surely would make you even more nervous. I had a really nice examiner so I felt quite at ease!
It does sound a bit strange though, him pestering you about about too hesistant, but then failing you for basically not being hesistant enough! Sounds like he gave you mixed signals! I think overall though it goes to show that if you're unsure you probably shouldn't go cause he didn't fail you for not going at the roundabout, but there's no need for them to make snide remarks like that. If they did that to me it would knock my confidence a bit. Good luck next time though.

This is one of the manoeuvres which I hate the most. Even if I pass, I shall never do this move in my life or never have I seen it be done in real life situations. Gah, saying this now I am probably jinxed to do it tomorrow, What stupid weather is happening all over the country, Praying for sun tomorrow so no double stopping distance. Knowing my luck though.

    ~Praying. So Nervous.

Passed first time. Was nervous all night, couldn't sleep and eat. Went to the test centre, first manoeuvre is bay parking & then all of a sudden "Congratulations, I can tell you that you have passed". Only 6 minors.

If I wasn't Muslim, I would have ended up kissing the guy. A handshake would do though

    Just don't be nervous guys.

    Hey mate,

Congrats, really happy for you, wish you safe driving for future, I got my exam on friday hope I pass this time atleast. I was not really nervous but I am really hoping that I pass this time as I really can not afford to spend any more money on driving tests and also paying the instructor, its draining me completely.

I know what you mean. I live alone so had to pay for all the lessons and tests/fees on my own, on a part time so I feel extra broke now. One of the small advices I can give you is just keep on bobbing your head to centre mirror, left mirror and right mirror FOR EVERYTHING. Only when you keep on doing this you can tell the instructor that you are checking for everything and you see everything well in advance. Try and get a good nights rest. What did you fail on last time if you don't mind me asking?

    Thanks & Good Luck.
