I've not done Music since 2nd year, although in my school you're not even allowed to crash Higher Music, which I'm guessing is because of the big jump between 1st and 2nd year Music to Higher.
At my school you supposedly have to do Standard Grade/Int 2 before Higher as one of my friends tried to do it but got rejected because he hadn't done Standard Grade or Int 2 Music.

Yeah if you haven't done it before, and you won't be allowed to do it unless you have evidence you can play two instruments at at least Grade 4 level.

In my opinion, it wont be the performance aspects that you'll find hard. It'll be all of the concepts you have to memorise for the listening section, a majority of which everyone in your class will know from Standard Grade etc.

You should be fine. A guy in my Advanced Higher class only crashed Higher last year, came out with an A and is doing really pretty well this year as well. I think once you learn to put the concepts into context (i.e. by period, form, style etc.) then it becomes easier - I imagine it would be quite daunting if you were new to it and suddenly had all these concepts chucked at you haphazardly!

I think quite a lot of people in my school have crashed Higher music, it's definitely doable.
