Only doing 1 essay subject for A level?
I'm not really sure if I want to do economics at university as I'm more interested in physics than economics at the minute but I could change my mind later. I didn't do economics at gcse but I took business studies and enjoyed the more economics parts like supply/demand/costs and accounts. I'm going to take these subjects at A level:

    Chemistry
    Economics
    Further Maths
    Maths
    Physics

I was just wondering how I would be as I'm only doing 1 essay subject - economics - but most people seem to do 2 essay subjects?

    Thanks
    A.

Don't worry about what other people do, do what you want to do. None of these choices are bad in the slightest.

My friend did exactly the same subjects as you, and is now at Peterhouse, Cambridge reading Economics.

As long as you're fine with essay writing, you should be fine

    I did these subjects!
I was actually like you, I wanted to do Physics or Economics so chose these subjects. After various summer schools for physics and a whole summer project of it, I found I hated it so much, and stuck with Economics.
One essay writing subject is fine, you've got a good mix

I'm not the best at writing essays, I would say personally my essays would tend to be a bit dull but generally cover all the points in enough detail if not greater. I'm just not the best at keeping them from sounding like a textbook mixed with a coroners report.

He would say something to that effect too, I suspect. He's always been more comfortable with Maths than prose. But as long as you can put together a coherent argument, then you should be fine Just make sure you put the effort in - the sciences are hard!

Thats my problem I haven't done any work experience or got any as my local uni only takes AS students due to restricted places. I would be more interested in physics because of the science aspect of it but then more than likely I'd end up in finance anyway so economics would be more relevant.

Definitely sounds like me lol, I could sit down and work with numbers and variables all day but an essay sometimes just bores me to death. I don't mind essays where you get marked on content but anything like English where you are marked on your presentation and delivery I'm hopeless at.

Not necessarily, you can still go into finance with a Physics degree, providing you do well in it. Firms look at how well students can apply there skills. I did all that Physics stuff and hardly much Economics stuff, but I still got into good uni's which shows application of skills matters, as there is a lot of maths in physics and economics

I do Biology, Physics and Psychology. Actually I find it makes a nice refreshing change to have one essay-based subject.
