It really depends on your actual UMS mark as opposed to grade for each module. I can't remember the weightings off the top of my head but you can find them on the exam boards website. Just find the grade boundaries, the corresponding marks and add them up. Then check the boundaries for the overall A-level.
Mechanics isn't that bad, you just need to keep bashing your head against it until it breaks. The physics department often have a different way of looking at the same problems so if you're really struggling, pay them a friendly visit and see if they can help you out. There's a lot of overlap in AS. -

A U in M1 could be 0 UMS or 39 UMS
A C could be 60 UMS or 69 UMS
A B could be 70 UMS or 79 UMS
with you first scenario you could have as little as 120 UMS (an E) or as much as 177 a D
with your second it could range from an E to a B
