Bike or car?
So I passed my test in December but I'm getting quotes of about £3000-5000 for wee 1 litre scrappers. Also I'm from Northern Ireland which makes insurance dearer again.
Does anyone think it's worth getting a small bike and learning to ride it. I need a way to get around but a car's looking very unlikely.
Cheers,

Re: Bike or car?
In terms of financial availability, bikes are cheaper to run, insure and maintain.
But that comes with a much bigger risk. There are no safety features on a bike. They are a fraction of the weight of a car and if you ever get into an accident you will always come off worse.
If you were in a city then yes. You can go between lanes (atleast in UK) and you wouldnt be going long distances so fuel wouldnt be too bad.
Windy country roads where the climate is cold most of the year with cars taking bends quickly.... totally different story.
I live on an A road in the countryside, and a lot of people have died on motorcycles on just this 10 mile stretch of road.
