Final Fantasy 7. Perfect story, perfect characters, perfect graphics (for the time) and perfect soundtrack. Literally cannot fault that game in any way.
    I echo this endorsement.

This is soo hard. I would spilt it by console, I would put mario kart for wii, pokemon emerald for the handhelds. And for PC comes the hardest, porbably Diablo/starcraft.

    Shadow of the Colossus.
Ooh, yeah! OK, I'm changing my order now. I can't remember the Metroid Prime's properly now but do remember thinking the first one felt epic.

    1. Final Fantasy 7
    2. Shadow of the Colossus
    3. Assassin's Creed 2

I think the most epic game ever has to be Assassin's Creed, but i like Splinter Cell, Black OPs amnd others too. What do you guys think?
I have to agree with you on Assassin's Creed, particuarly the first two games. Out of interest, which game do you like the best?

I think Red Dead Redemption is a pretty epic game, and the feeling of planting the Red Army flag on top of the Reichstag at the end of Call of Duty: World at War was just brilliant - "Oorah!"

Good call, that truly was epic. Skyrim has an epic world but the story didn't live up to it.

I'd go along the lines of other people's suggestions with some specific titles: Gears of War 2, Mass Effect 1, Skies of Arcadia, Assassin's Creed 2, Resident Evil 4.

I'm going to settle on Assassin's Creed 2. The ending to that was immense.
So are you looking forward to AC3??

Epic in terms of scale is probably Skyrim, or Oblivion. I have played oblivion more, due to a screen defect on my laptop.

Other than that final fantasy games 7 through 10. I think RPGs which allow some free roaming are more "epic" than linear ones like Splinter cell and black ops as OP mentioned, as much as I like those games. I just see the word epic and think grand and huge.

    GTA San Andreas
Probably the best game ever released.

Hopefully, GTA 5 will surpass it

Couldn't agree more. Even just thinking about that Christmas Day when I first started playing it all those years ago almost brings tears of nostalgia to my eyes (*flashback* Aeris NOOOOOOOOOO!!! How could Sephiroth kill you. You bastard!!! I will have revenge!!! *End of game* OMNISLASH!!! TAKE THAT GHRSJKDJFDKJFKDLJFKLDJFD).
