    First-year students in private halls
Hey, I was just wondering if any of you are opting for private halls in the first-year or lived in them when you were in your first year? Where did you go and how was it not living within the UoM campus?

To keep my options open I'm looking at the Cosmopolitan halls, CRM halls (Ladybarn & Ropemaker) and the Student Castle. They look pretty great for not that much more.

I would suggest that you visit them. so far all other private halls such as unite fail to impress some of the students here in tsr. i dont know about the others though,

P.s. im first year this sept and im going for private halls. I've already booked a room in student castle.

Private halls look nice and generally are newer but beware these companies are utter fraudsters, I've heard many horror stories about made-up charges and deposits from people who've stayed in private halls especially UNITE and Liberty Living.

By going with private halls I feel you miss a bit of the experience since UoM halls all have sports team and the such and a better sense of community from what I can gather having heard people's experiences of private halls.

yeah I've heard about that, that's why I did my research first before picking.

I'm going for a Cosmopolitan place They seem really nice, and I emailed the manager and he was just like ''Just come look round whenever you like'' and yeah he seems friendly, and its new so rooms are nicer and I don't like the possibility of being in a hall I don't like with Manchester (since Victoria is the only one I like)... Plus it's much better value for money, and closer
