Lieing about where I live
So I am hoping to go to my local university this year however I do not automatically get a place in halls because of my close proximity to the university, I would really like to live in halls as I know it would be the best and easiest way to get to know people and socialize, so my question is would I be able to put my place of residence down as one of my relations who live far enough away for me to automatically get a place in halls ? If so would I just have to change it on UCAS or are there other places I would also need to change this information ?
I know this isn't exactly right but I really think it's important to live in halls and that it would completely change my university experience if I had to live at home or in private accommodation
Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Lieing about where I live
This would also have implications for your student finance, and when you start lying about who you live with to student finance, it gets perilously close to fraud.
Anyway, a few weeks in (I have heard of people dropping out during freshers) people will drop like flies and a place will open up for you in halls. -

Re: Lieing about where I liveI was afraid that student finance would have to be changed which is of course as you say a bit on the dodgy side, I have also heard of people dropping out a few weeks in but by then I am worried friendship groups will have already been formedThis would also have implications for your student finance, and when you start lying about who you live with to student finance, it gets perilously close to fraud.
Anyway thanks for the advice

Re: Lieing about where I liveFriendship groups shift, merge and solidify throughout the year; they certainly won't be set in cement a month or two into uni. I know one girl who moved from one halls to another, and has had no problem making friends with her new flatmates, so it's not something that's impossible to do by any means.(Original post by edibletoast)

Re: Lieing about where I live
Don't go down that road, you don't want to be lying on things like student finance. Just because accommodation in halls is not guaranteed doesn't mean you won't get it, it doesn't even mean you're unlikely to get it. Get everything filled in on time and you'll probably get in anyway.

Re: Lieing about where I liveThe BS friendship groups people hastily form in the first term are not something you need to be involved in. You end up getting stuck with complete ********s. It's better to just avoid that phase altogether and gradually build up proper friendships through your course and societies and things.(Original post by edibletoast)
