Well at least then there are opportunities to see the modern industrialised China and to ponder the economic and geopolitical outlook for the people's republic. Whereas in a snooker room it's just one long drawn out death sentence for the soul

    Lol
Creative response, I give you that.

    I see.

For the record; I still wouldn't recommend watching the 20k walk race. Despite the various excogiatative ideas it may lead one to consider.

    Also; Ronnie!!! :woo:

I'm so happy! Ronnie O'Sullivan is the new world champion! He played very well in Crucible Theatre. He has it deserved.

I'm a (or should I say was) a Hendry fan but I enjoy watching Ronnie, not for his break building but his safety play. It's outstanding. His safety has come on leaps and bounds, since he started working with Reardon few years back. It's incredible how he is able to judge pace and get the ball back into the baulk area and cause his opponent such trouble.

I remember when he hammered Hendry 18-4 at the Crucible few years ago and that was down to his impeccable safety which Hendry couldn't get out of and Ronnie took up the chances and won.

4 World crowns - He's the only one who can break Hendry's record but I'm not so sure he's that sorta guy to want to keep winning more and more and break it.

Who would you say is the better player out of Ronnie and John Higgins?

Ronnie has 24 titles, 11 runner up. He has 4 WC wins, 4 UK and 4 Masters with 5 runner up.
John Higgins has 24 titles, 14 runner up. He has 4 WC with 1 runner up, 3 UK with 2 runner up and 2 Masters with 2 runner up.

I personally think Ronnie is the better player, but I think John Higgins has a better head to head record against him and has been to more finals. John Higgins WC record is better then Ronnie, but Ronnie has a better UK and Masters record then John Higgins, as 4 UK is better then 3 UK with 2 runner up.

I remember for the last few seasons, whenever they met in tournaments, John Higgins won most of there matches. If they met in the next tournament and Ronnie doesn't retire, I think Ronnie would be favourite as John Higgins isn't playing well.

I dislike how commentary can be so bias, I remember Willie Thorne saying during commentary, can't remember which tournament, he said along the lines of, Ronnie wasn't the player he once was. Now during this World Championship, he said how great of a player he was.

I think hearn should make special rules for ronnie. Let him pick the tournaments he wants to go to and make it the top 15 + ronnie. When the other players complain tell them that the rule is for people who make 147's in under 6 mins and applies to everyone so is actually perfectly fair.
Ive been thinking and have decided that in light of this victory the top 15 should each be billed as "ronnie opponent 1", "ronnie opponent 2" and so on. This way people will know where opponents stand in the ronnie opposition rankings from the bottom of the screen as soon as they switch on the tv. Also I like carters idea "The ronnie o'sullivan show" is more to the point than "world snooker".

despite the claims of some around the crucible that this has been a disappointing tournament I've thoroughly enjoyed it and coming here, we've had a good chat about it all. Ronnie thoroughly deserved it, playing five world finalists is just about as hard a draw he could have picked himself. Carter did brilliantly to reach the final and wasn't embarrassed this time.

The 2012/13 snooker season starts on Sunday with the qualifying school for 12 places on next years tour. Hope this thread continues and the snooker society grows.

I'm glad he isn't yet retiring. Hendry and Ronnie retiring in the same year would be a blow to snooker.

Ronnie will never equal Hendry's 7 WC trophies though. I think it might be too late for that. He's got one more in him I think, that's if he comes back seriously after the six month break.

I didn't realise he played five world finalists to win the championship. That's amazing. He played his best snooker before the final that's for sure.

Very good blog on the BBC website : http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bendirs/2..._lose_ron.html

The game certainly needs personalities but more will always come through. Whether he's liked or not, Allen is a great personality. I do think the game was unfortunate to lose Paul Hunter at such a young age. He had plenty of personality and the talent as well.

Personality is one of the big problems with the influx of Chinese players. I guess it's because of the culture difference but you get nothing off them. They are emotionless; which is fine. They don't have to show emotion but we do get drawn to people who show us what they are feeling.

Bazza is destroying the game, end of. Although the players voted him in, they did not vote him into to do the rubbish he is doing.

But in a match between Ronnie and John, who do you think would win?

The chinese are cool. The proverb "a book is like a magic garden, carried in your pocket" is I think particularly cool and they have such wonderful architecture and many other great things. But if I want to criticize them, their country, their players or what ever else then I bloody well will and mark allen should be able to too and if they dont like it they can pull their heads in. They need to add a sense of humour to their many great things.
