Battle of the Movies
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Re: Battle of the MoviesTerminator 2 and Diehard are already in the Hall of Shame whilst the Hangover is in the Hall of Fame (not yet updated I see) so it wouldn't surprise me if a classic like Alien went the same way.(Original post by helen-a-ravenclaw)

Why are people hating on Alien? Classic sci-fi with Sigourney Weaver? No?
This thread also shows TDK remains overrated
I also think LOTR is vastly overrated (besides the battles, it's wooden characters just walking and walking and walking; ironically the most human character is a CGI one) but I suppose I can see the nostalgia of it due to how long of a period it dominated people's childhoods.

Re: Battle of the MoviesWHAT?!?!? The Dark Knight OVERATED!, OK I see your point with LOTR, but come on. Although I will agree some points are flawed, it has been the greatest of these 21st century super-hero reboots by a long margin. The Shawshank Redeption is very much overated!(Original post by silent ninja)

TDK is long and has an unnecessarily convoluted plot. They should've shaved about 25 minutes off the movie. It starts off so well and moves along nicely, but around the middle or two-thirds in it just gets very baggy. Then you have that stupid typical Hollywood boat scene. Yes it was good and I enjoyed it in the cinema overall, but it was only memorable due to Heath Ledger's death. People place it in their all-time list which is why I think it's overrated. -
Re: Battle of the MoviesNo it got changed to 60 as we were getting through films too quickly, apparently.(Original post by silent ninja)
I thought we stop at 50 yet there's a movie that had 56? -
Re: Battle of the MoviesThe Avengers is the older film of the same name. That's why in England it was released as Marvel Avengers Assemble to avoid confusion.(Original post by Fward)
