Which campus should I live at?
Hi everyone!
The campus I will be studying in is about 3 miles from the city centre in a suburb. There is accommodation beside where my classes will be.
There is a free bus that the university runs from the city centre out to this campus.
Would I be better living right beside where my class will be and travel to access everything else, such as places to eat/go out/shop – or live in the city centre with access to everything and travel to my classes every day?
Just would like to see what you think would be better!
This is for Northumbria University by the way!
Thanks x

Re: Which campus should I live at?Yea thats the good thing about living beside the class...you can just roll out of bed 5 minutes before lol. But then you are far away for everything else!(Original post by DeadGirlsDance)

Suppose you cant have it all!

Re: Which campus should I live at?Yeah, but at least everyone else there will be in the same situation too(Original post by sarah534)

Re: Which campus should I live at?This is a good point, you will get annoyed if your flatmates are all on city campus and can get away with leaving 2 minutes before they have a lecture, and might find they are still up and making noise when you've gone to bed and might not appreciate you have to be up earlier to get the bus to your campus.(Original post by DeadGirlsDance)
Yeah, but at least everyone else there will be in the same situation too
Also if you forget your pen or lunch/money when you have a long day then it'll be easier to pop back for it, and if you're running late it's better to get the bus late for popping into town where it doesn't really matter rather than being late for a lecture or seminar. -
Re: Which campus should I live at?
Im in the same boat, my classes are at Coach lane campus and I will be first year starting in September, so I only have the website to refer to as to what residences are available. I'd rather stay at the campus but would any of you be able to advise to the best place to stay up round there. I am from Northern Ireland so dont know the area at all lol

Re: Which campus should I live at?If you want to stay on the actual campus then you have to apply for 'Coach Lane' on the accommodation website. There is a hall (Rothbury Hall) or student houses that you could be allocated to in that category, so if you have a preference between them you can put it in the additional info box but there aren't several halls to pick from.(Original post by AoifeGlass)

Have you looked at the halls available on the university website? -
Re: Which campus should I live at?I was actually over at the University yesterday and saw Rothbury Hall, wasn't too impressed, and was speaking to the Uni link bus driver and he recommended a couple of residences in the city, he drove us by Winn hall and new brdige street, and both looked a lot more my picking. Have been on the website and checked all the available places and think my top two are these ones.(Original post by StacFace)

Re: Which campus should I live at?I'm glad you said that as I didn't apply to coach lane campus! To be honest i cant remember which halls i put down. On that note do you know how to check the status of your accommodation application? Have you put down a deposit yet? I am starting in September. What about you? x(Original post by sclerky)

Re: Which campus should I live at?
I know quite a few people who were initially annoyed about being placed at Coach Lane, especially if their course was at City Campus. However most of them found that they had a great time living there and became a lot closer to the people they lived with than those at City Campus. Also the free shuttle bus is pretty decent if you want to pop to the centre, and the Metro's not far away if you're going to town later on.
