    A level trouble..
Hey people, I've recently put myself in a quite messy place and I just would like to get some info so I can prepare for the worst.

I'm currently doing AS bio, chem, maths and psychology. I am doing great on all my subjects except psychology. I have also done AS German back in 2009 where I got an A (100%). I am not quite sure whether this is going to be accepted as I've lived there for most of my life, so I speak the language fluently.

Now my problem is I've messed up my jan exam in psychology, and it doesn't seem to get any better in May either due to the sheer volume of work I have to produce. I just can't figure out what the papers are really all about.

So if I end up being predicted 3A's for my sciences but I get a C/D or E in Psychology, will it prevent me from applying to med schools that require AAAb, AAAa? I am thinking of Barts in particular.

Because if I do add AS german I would have AAAa plus psychology (c/d or e).

I hope my question is clear, feel free to ask for elaboration.

Best thing for you to do is to email/phone the universities and ask so you can be sure.

As Elwyn says, best to email each of your prospective universities and outline your situation with them and ask if its okay.

From my understanding, provided it is not a prerequisite to apply with bbbb or something at AS, their conditional offer will be AAAb meaning you can retake a psychology module in your A2 year to pull the AS grade up. That is, of course, if they don't accept the German.

Best to clear it up with each individual department though.

If you can get AAA in Maths, Bio and Chem then I am confident you'll manage to sort out that Psychology grade

I've talked to my tutor on friday. And to be honest I just don't want to even retake this subject. It's soo not for me, I basically want to get rid of it, which is what i've told her. So she suggested that I just drop it. Since it's not possible to certificate Unit 1 only (the january module) I wouldn't have to declare it on my ucas and I can take a new AS subject during my A2 year. I told her I would think about it.

So in case I do drop it, and take up a new AS in my A2 year, how can the teacher (of the new subject) predict me an AS grade eventhough he doesn't know how I am going to perform in that particular AS. Or is it just going to say pending next to the new AS subject?

well you have the first few weeks of september to try and show some vague potential of a good grade so he can predict you something... they will have to give you a prediction so something will have to be put down... you better discuss this with him.
