Can anyone read 2 or more books at the same time?

If it can be read, it can be discussed here.

Yes, but they wouldn't be exactly intellectual.

Normally I read 1, but if one is slow going or hardwork then I might pick up another (this does not mean I am finding the book boring!)
At the moment I'm reading The Bell Jar and Der Vorleser (The Reader) and seeing as the second one is in German and is taking me ages as I have to look up every few words, it's nice to pick up a book where I can just chill out

I'm usually reading two; one fiction, one play/poetry/biography/non-fiction. Right now I'm combining Shakespeare (just finished Macbeth, started on Twelfth Night today) with Alias Grace (by Margaret Atwood). I'm really enjoying Shakespeare, but the edition I'm reading is not the kind of thing I could put in my bag or read in bed, so it's nice to have another option

I sometimes read two in a day, or even three if it's a weekend day and they're not great heavy tomes. Is that what you're asking?...

Two at the same time, meaning what I think you mean, yeah, of course. At the moment I've got two going, but it's usually more. One is history and one is a detective novel. Don't really read detective books at all usually but this was 30p from school.

Chilling out with The Bell Jar? quite impressive!

It's better to read several books at a time because you will remember more.

Oh god! I used to do this all the time when I was younger. I'd be so excited with all the new books I got from the library, that I'd read maybe the first 20-30 pages of one book, then get all fidgetty about what I was missing in the next book, and move on. But I did manage to finish by books though.

    I don't do this anymore
But I still take my time and space out reading and finishing magazines though.

I used to read one and only one at a time, but since I'm studing languages I read 2:
One for leisure, in spanish or english, and another one as a way to study french.

I have so many books that I want to read than if I didn't read 2 at a time I would probably never read the french ones.

Currently I'm reading Good Omens, by Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman and La mécanique du coeur by Mathias Malzieu

Simultaneous reading is my true speciality! If you get sick of one book then it's straight on to the other! However this does more frequently lead to my abandoning of the book altogether
