Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.
To the person who says you're trolling, I know you're not because I had exactly the same problem.
I'm a girl and when I was 15 I noticed that I had a lot of dark hair on my neck, sort of like a beard (but not quote like a beard if you know what I mean). It really got me down. I started plucking it out/shaving it and it would always leave me with irritated skin on my neck. I also had it (although lighter) on my cheeks. I would walk with my head down to stop people seeing it.
I'm 19 now. Since last year I've been having laser hair removal. Believe me, it's the best thing I've EVER done. It's expensive and it does hurt a lot (contrary to what the leaflets say - I think it's because the skin on the face is so sensitive). But I have one treatment left to go and it looks 100x better. It's hardly noticeable now. I still have to shave it off now and again but it's infinitely better - get it done. You'll feel so much better about yourself. -

Hi. When i was 16, my chin hair was existant but it was light, and fine, barely noticable. However, i got a bf, freaked out that he'd feel the hair on my face so i started to wax and thread it and tweeze some hairs. I noticed that when i tweezed the hairs came back darker and thicker... but now, 2.5 years later my hair on my chin is thick and black :/ and when i pluck it, theres black hairs, ingrown hairs i guess as they are still growing in some places. Im looking into laser hair removal, and at the moment, im trying to grow out all the hairs on my chin so i can wax it at one go and wont have to get frustrated with some hairs that grow after my chin has been waxed.
What do i do? m,y hairs didnt used to be like this? is there any way i can get them to go away and atleats a bit thinner? I so dont want to have to pluck them when little hairs start to grow on my chin, and I cant usually grow it all out either because i get concious of what people would think and what n ot.
Im a girl and i hate it. I dont want a chin full of black coarse hairs. There are some, but loads that are coarse however i still do have the light hairs. But what do i do?
any other girls with this problem? :/ thanks.
Don't panic - you probably have a bit of polycystic ovaries. It can be treated with medication. The hair can be removed with lasers. It is very common and shows up more on girls with darker hair.
See your doctor for some blood tests. -

thanks! I'm looking into laser hair removal too. Even though it may seem expensive ive notived that its about £10 more than getting yoru face waxed or your nails done! But, how much does it hurt? any more than waxing or threading? And does the hair get thinner after the first treatment? I really do want this chin hair gone :'( -
Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.I've had a scan before and they said i was fine and everything was normal. So i dont think i have ovarian cysts. Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.
Do you have this problem anywhere else? Or any other health problems? There are several places you can try, like your GP, a local beauty salon etc. A GP may be able to test you for slight hormonal in-balances and a beauty salon can help you prevent it getting harder to manage or worse looking.
I'm not sure about the best DIY maintenance of facial hair. But good practice for general hair removing, particularly when removing from the root like with epilating, waxing and tweezing is firstly, remove hair in the right direction (normally against the growth direction), or you may break the hairs off beneath the skin and encourage in grown hairs. Keep the area exfoliated and moisturized to help prevent ingrowns (e.g baby oil & cream on the legs combined with exfoliation keeps them away for me, so for the face instead of baby oil I'd suggest a mildly medicated cream like Garnier pure A/ Active range). Keep the area super clean, again particularly when removing hair from the root as in my experience this kind can lead to infected little lumps unless prevention is practiced.
You have another option which is facial bleach like jolene. As always do a patch test 48 hours before then give it a try. Read the instructions very carefully.
See if you can get a free or very cheap consultation about laser hair surgery as I've read things about it not being suitable for all skin & hair colour combinations.
Finally dont over do it. I bet its not as noticable as you feel it is. If you are causing the area mild trauma/ pain/ irritation regularly you may make it red or damage the skin or something which is more noticeable and harder to cover up. -
Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.
I would suggest electrolysis and before you have that (i.e. before you can afford it) hair removal/lightening cream. Try the boots lightening cream, it makes the hair all soft as well as blonde and invisible (I use it on my eyebrows when I decide to be blonde... I'm slowly killing my hair follicles).

I'd like some hair lasered. How much is it costing you and which company is it please?

Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.I've never had waxing or threading done so I wouldn't be able to make the comparison. But it sort of feels like every single hair is being burned off really close to the skin, really fast. But it's all worth it.(Original post by helpnow_please)

It takes a couple of days to notice anything but when it starts to thin... wow! It starts growing back less and less each time you shave it but about the time you have to have the next treatment it starts getting coarser again (hence why you have the next treatment). -

Re: Have coarse hair on face, makes me feel like a man.I have it done with the Hadleigh Clinic. They have a clinic near where I live but they also have one in London. I think it's about £130 per treatment but they do deals if you buy all the treatments at once.(Original post by Noirla)

Get your doctor to check for PCOS, its quite common and medication can stop the symptoms
