    Ha, I actually have to debate this next week (in Spanish).

    Basically, there is no reason to have one save that we always have (apart from under Cromwell, I believe)

    The royal family are an important part of our national image and culture. It would be sad to see them go, as our country would lose a large chunk of its historic and cultural identity. Furthermore, they serve as a huge tourist magnet and an important diplomatic asset.
