Re: is mainstream music obsessed with love and women? Is this something new?(Original post by sollythewise)
it seems that the vast majority of mainstream music is about being in love, wanting to be in love or having been in love. it also seems to recogise only one positive emotion: love.
is this accurate or am i missing something? -
Re: is mainstream music obsessed with love and women?OFFCOURSE, THE WORLD HAS ALWAYS BEEN OBSESSED WITH THESE TOPICS (nothing new)(Original post by sollythewise)

Re: is mainstream music obsessed with love and women?Sort of. But not the obvious choice.(Original post by Linweth)
Laserlight is also a love song. -
Re: is mainstream music obsessed with love and women?
To be honest, alot of music is about love. It's arguably the strongest emotion we feel, and 90% of people write music to express their emotions, and to let their emotions free. Normally when sad/depressed, normally after a breakup, or when in love with someone.
It's normal.
Some people say The Beatles wrote the best song's in history, almost all of their songs are about love, but with happy melodies. -

I also think it's funny that a lot of the lyrics sound the same. I can't count how many times I've heard something along the lines of "DJ play that music louder" in various songs. The impression I get is that they just have nothing else in their lives to comment about. Harsh, but... yano.

Re: is mainstream music obsessed with love and women? It's because these people are making their music on computers with digital samples, without needing creative talent. And obviously they don't have creative abilities in writing lyrics so they just put dumb lyrics to their sampled made tracks.(Original post by looneylamb)

It takes no creative talent to make the music in the charts.
I even heard a story, that once a guy wrote a real cool song called "underground sound". But he just hadn't written the lyrics to it yet, but he played all the instruments and beats and everything, and sent it off to record companies. Later that year, girls aloud released a song called "sound of the underground" with the exact same melody and music that the guy made.
They just steal off talented people and then have pretty faces to sing be the face of the music. It's stupid. -

Once people become famous, I think their music becomes a lot more impersonal. Although I'm not a fan of her, Pixie Lott came out with that Mama Do song which was quite unique and now she's doing absolute trite because she knows that it'll sell.
It's sad.
