Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions. That to, but obviously, sometimes you forget, which makes you go crazy loool(Original post by Arron17)
An anti-static wrist band isn't really needed just ground yourself before messing with the parts, this can be done easily by installing the psu in the case and plugging it in (Don't switch it on) then when you touch the case your grounded. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.Cheers guys. Have you guys got any cases in mind? I think I'll stick with at least 600w+ incase I want to SLI in the future.(Original post by Arron17)
The cpu will come with thermal compound and so will any aftermarket cooler. Motherboards will come with sata cables.
With that build I'd save some money on the case and get a better cooler, maybe get the i5 3570k theres not much of a performance difference but it's newer. And with the card you can get a 7850 for about the same money and it's a bit better. If you want the nvidia you could always get the GTX 560ti 448.
Maybe get a z77 chipset too for pcie 3 and native usb 3 and you could also save money on the PSU you won't need 650 with a good one. 500 would be fine with a decent make.
What do you think of this-

One thing if your getting an i5 3570 you should get a z77 chipset motherboard, the one you've got listed there is a z68 and there the motherboards for the i5 2500k. Your chip will still work on it, but you won't be able to use pcie 3 and you might not be able to overclock.
As for the rest of the build looks pretty good similar to mine. You might want to look around for better prices. I got my 7850 for £5 less than you but my i5 was £5 more so it evens out lol.
Maybe get this card instead http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-a...i-display-port
£1 cheaper plus its got custom cooling and two fans and asus are a good make, the powercolor one is just the ATi reference cooler with their sticker slapped on it. Either way it probably won't make much difference. The two fans on the asus will make it quieter and probably cooler if you crank them up. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.I'd get a Z77 board.(Original post by Hippysnake)

Motherboards usually come with a bunch of SATA cables. No need to buy them.
SCAN has that CPU for £170 on their site. If you've been a member of AV forums for 14 days then you get free shipping. edit nvm. Ebuyer is the same price. Ebuyer had it for £178 yesterday.
I prefer Corsair memory.
I believe this to be a better cooler http://www.ebuyer.com/298308-cooler-...r-tx3e-22pk-r1
I should hope you're going for the free shipping :PLast edited by Camoxide; 03-05-2012 at 02:24. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.I probably won't be building it till early July when I've finished Uni for the year, so we'll see what happens till then.(Original post by Camoxide)

Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.
SSD prices are absolutely crashing, can get a 120GB for £85 now

Also yeah don't bother with an antistatic wrist band, as long as you're careful they're not needed. I worked as an IT Tech in a school and upgraded hundreds of PC's not a single problem. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.
Well overclocker's 1-day only deal made me buy a 128GB Crucial SSD
. Wish I'd waited a bit longer for a marginally better price but I'm assured that it's going to make a massive difference to my PC so looking forward to it.
Also wondering: I don't have a copy of Windows 7 but I do have it installed on my current HD. If I want it on my new SSD do I have to buy a new version and clean install (more expensive). Or can I use software such as Paragon to switch it over (less expensive but ?unreliable?).Last edited by Vox0; 03-05-2012 at 09:54. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.Same prices as most places really I've just bought a 1TB Seagate Barracuda for £70 And a new i5 3570k for £175(Original post by Killjoy-)
Scan has a sale ATM.
It includes the 1TB Seagate Barracuda and the new i5. -
Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.I'm not familiar with the prices. I thought they might be good deals so I thought I'd post them, esp. since its a one day promotion.(Original post by Arron17)

Re: 1st PC build - need help. *Warning* Noob Questions.Yeh they all seem to do that, say it's a promotion then you look around and it's the same price everywhere.(Original post by Killjoy-)
