Hey, thanks for the question.
Some island hopping in Turkey sounds right up your street! We're offering buy one, get one free on selected dates for our sailing adventures there right now - so two of you could go on a week's trip from £184 for both of you, which includes your accommodation on board. You can find out more here: http://sta.travel/tq0BUQ
The great thing about Turkey is that it's outside the eurozone, so it'll be a bit cheaper than somewhere like Ibiza or the Greek islands. It definitely ticks your 'good beaches' box, and a sailing trip with loads of other like minded people provides your exciting water-based daytime activity, plus some guaranteed good nights out (or on board!).
Another good option could be Croatia. Again, it's pretty cheap to eat and drink there compared to Europe, and if nights out are on the agenda, just google 'festivals croatia' - it's as if it's illegal not to have a festival in Croatia this year, there's loads of them! We've also got some sailing trips there, if you fancy it - you can see them at the same link as above.
Hope that's a good starting point - let me know if you want to know anything else!
Cheers,
Emma
Thanks for responding, however by fast-paced and exciting activities I was thinking more like jet skis, surfing, skydiving, bungie jumping etc
Also Turkey and Croatia both look good but what's the longest time we can hold out there with £400 - £600each including everything, except activities?
Thanks.Last edited by R0DSTER; 03-05-2012 at 19:51. -

You can definitely do all those activities in either Turkey or Croatia! For the best value for money, Turkey will probably be your best bet. If you don't mind budget accommodation and eating cheaply, you'll get around 2-3 weeks with £600 (excluding flights).

hi, me and my friend are planning to go backpacking in Italy. At the moment were thinking of getting a flight there and back and backpacking in the middle. We were wondering if you could give us any info on places to camp or suitable hostels in Rome, Venice and Verona that are low budget. Also if we were to take a car how much would it cost to insure it abroad?? Thanks
We've got loads of budget accommodation in Rome and Venice - take a look here:
http://www.statravel.co.uk/accommodation-in-rome.htm
http://www.statravel.co.uk/accommodation-in-venice.htm
Camping in Italy is relatively easy to organise, but be aware that most of the campsites near the cities will be on the outskirts, so you'll have to pay for transport or parking in the city. To be honest, you may find that camping is not much cheaper than staying in a hostel, especially if you go for a dorm room.
It's best to talk to your insurance company in the UK to check whether your car is covered abroad.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, do your prices for round the world tickets on the STA website include all airport taxes and fees etc? For example with the Classic itinerary (London, Bangkok, Sydney, LA, London) is £959 the total price you would have to pay for flights?
Thanks in advance

Re: Do you want to travel this summer and need advice? Ask Ant and Emma, from STA TraHey, thanks for the question. The fares we quote on our website are the total amount you'll pay, so including all taxes, fees, etc.(Original post by *WiNdOw LiCkEr*)

However, the price for a round the world ticket will vary - things like the time of year you want to depart, and when you want to return, and availability will all affect the price.
It's worth talking to one of our Travel Experts - they'll be able to give you an idea of costs for an itinerary that suits your needs.. You can call them for free on 0800 988 4248.

Hello, I need some recommendations for holiday at the end of June. Budget up to around £800 to include return flight and 5 or so night accommodation. Location must be relatively close, i.e. 5 hour flight max. Destination to have a sandy beach, hot climate, has some scenery and perhaps some sight-seeing (i.e. some historics). Perhaps some activities to do as well (e.g. water activities, camels, etc.). Not a student party scene though (don't want to be seeing the GCSE / A-level students).
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.Last edited by Mustard-man; 16-05-2012 at 23:48. -
Re: Do you want to travel this summer and need advice? Ask Ant and Emma, from STA TraHot climates (and dry) in June will keep you mostly in the northern hemisphere; within a five hour flight will keep you mostly in Europe and northern Africa. Scenery is plentiful in most of it; but the combination of historic sites makes for some really interesting choices.(Original post by Mustard-man)

Have you considered Greece, Italy, Turkey, or (to fulfil you camel ambitions) Egypt? You can find a student scene in most countries that fit your criteria, but you can also escape it really easily, too.
Check our website for the latest flight deals; and it's worth considering a tour, too — but if you do that, make sure you speak to a consultant about how raucous a tour it would be! We sell a full range; from educational, to letting loose. Whatever you choose, have a great time … Ant -

Hey guys,
I’ve just finished university and am looking for a holiday in the sun for around 2-3 weeks (preferably all inclusive or would go self catering if food and drink is cheap locally). None of my friends will come so I would like to go by myself and meet like minded travellers.
Is sharm el sheikh is a decent place for this type of holiday? Or anywhere else?
Your help is much appreciated.
Cheers. -

Hey topoftherock
You'll find tons of all inclusive offers to Sharm el Sheikh - but since you're going by yourself, why not take a look at Dhahab? Just down the coast from Sharm, it's less package holiday and more backpacker paradise. There's loads to do there - some amazing diving spots, for starters - and because it attracts a more independent type of traveller, you're bound to meet like minded people easily.
Hope that's a good starting point - let me know if you want any more info.
Cheers,
