Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.
lool anime porn i never understood it :L but y'know it probably just some phase.... how old is she anyway? If she's quite young its more likely to be a phase, if she's like 17+ it may just be a hobby or something she is really into. try and be more open minded too

Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.totally agree with the second part. but to label any culture 'weird' seems (correct me if i'm wrong) extremely narrow-minded.(Original post by Keckers)
Japanese culture is weird.
Let her get on with it, she'll realise at some point she's being a bit strange and will more than likely stop and find something else to immerse herself in.
for example, few hundred years ago, being fat was a positive sign of wealth. workers had to be in shape, especially those in physical labour. nowadays, that's pretty 'weird' if you think about it, seeing as very few people find obesity socially attractive.
and for children who grew up in Germany, hearing about black pudding would make us think the British were some barbaric peoples (deffo not at all true, that was when i was like five. my parents grew up in Leeds for the record, so do understand i'm only throwing this in to make a point!). culture is just one of those things that you can't generalize, and i've been to Japan more than once and loved it. anime culture seems strange to me as well, and i personally don't like it either, but i know other people who do and i try to refrain from calling it 'weird' or 'strange' though i do feel inclined to at times. in any case, anime doesn't characterize 'japanese culture' as a whole, especially seeing as it's a culturally and historically (and, formerly, financially) rich country.
just my two million cents

Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.Lol leave her alone but video it and show it to her on her wedding (or youtube if you're really that evil!)(Original post by 2_plus_X_equal_me)
She dresses up like these Asian anime dolls, looks pretty realistic with these massive eye lashes thingy bobs. She also is whipped on this band called perfume in Asia even though she doesn't know a bloody single word. I have also caught her watching animated *cough* all you need to no it consist of the letter p o n and r. (She says its the story shes interested in).
Has she got some kind of weird fetish or something. She used to be normal couple months back.
By checking my computer internet history, the last perfume song my sis listen too drum roll please is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCuCFTUDI5g like the jedwards of the asian world. (my personally opinion)
But yer I used to have this anime-phase and wished to learn Japanese and the lot (never dressed up though, wouldn't suit me: I'm a black boy) it will die down otherwise she'd just be having a weird love for the awesome Japanese culture, where she might end up living in Japan and learn Japanese so that can't be all bad but it might be a bit awkward flying to Japan after a few years seeing how different she is xD
It will die down mate! No worries ^^ tell her of this game called Osu! It's real good she'll love it -youtube it-.Last edited by iSoftie; 23-04-2012 at 18:53. -
Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing. What happened to the real you?(Original post by Billton)
It's probably a phase- we all go through them. I used to be covered in piercings and have jet-black hair and thought that Billie Joe Armstrong should run for leader of the free world

Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.
As someone else pointed out, teenagers go through phases. I used to wear all black, dye my hair traffic light red and perform Wiccan rituals. What usually happens as you grow up is that you keep the bits that you like (I, for example, am still voluntarily ginger
) but you realise that doesn't mean you have to subscribe to every part of a subculture. She's enjoying herself and it does her no harm, let her have her fun and she'll probably tone it down a little in a year or two.

Don't have that much experience on those matters...but it's world-lore that watching any kind of p o n r for the storyline is like watching Frank Ribéry play because of his handsome constitution

Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.
could be a phase but who cares if its not. as long as she is happy and not hurting anybody then whats the problem. some japanese stuff is pretty cool tbh. also why should she have to dress like everyone else, its boring if we all look the same, and it makes life a bit more fun and interesting and the world a happier and more colourful place. also music doesnt just have to be in english, neither do tv programmes and stuff - i like rammstein, dont understand a word of german but i still like the music (though i can swear in german and say cupboard cos my friend is half german). shes not "messed up in the head" just having fun and expressing herself/her individuality.

Re: Is my sister messed up in the head or is it just a girl thing.about the anime events its not just here, cos theres quite a few people I overheard a few weeks ago at school went to a sort of anime event thing, and bear in mind were 16(Original post by 2_plus_X_equal_me)
Nah shes rapped up in it. Shes replacing her clothes with wacko clothes and going to these anime events.
