    To me they both look similar to me excluding the price, which one should I get and why?

    Not much difference in terms of quality, and the response is better on the cheaper one but you wouldn't notice the difference.
    Though the first one is LCD and the second is LED, with LED bringing much better colour and light out.

    Why would you need a 27"? 24 is more than enough. If you want to big screen game then hook it up to a 50" plasma/LED TV

    Same reason you'd want to to hook it up to a 50" plasma. Gaming, GFX design work and video editing, multi window working and for watching films...

    If you are willing to pay that much for a monitor personally I would choose a smaller IPS monitor rather than a larger TN monitor.

    IMO 27" is a little over the top if you are going to me sitting about a metre away from it.
