Re: TSR Dance Society!Best to get lessons, but if you want to get fit first DVDs are always good. The Ministry of Sound ones are really good, i swear by them to get fit. But i've heard good reviews about the Pineapple dance dvds, which teach you a few dances to popular music, step by step. Lessons are extremely expensive, so if you are close by a uni, check what they do as it is usually a lot cheaper and you can often get associate membership.(Original post by stardust&starshine)
Hey, I am really interested in dance. Most of my friends do it and are really good. But to be honest, I am rubbish at it, however, I'd really like to get into dancing (I've just read that '"Good dancers arent born, they are taught"). Should I enroll in classes or try to learn at home? -
Re: TSR Dance Society!
I quit dancing this time last year and I miss it like hell.
I'd been dancing for 9 years - ballet, modern, tap, jazz, drama, singing, gymnastics and advanced jazz. Those were all the classes I took there. At the most, I did 4 days a week and about 10 hours altogether. More if there was a show and for a while I helped in a baby ballet class so that was another hour or so. Now I do none.
I wish I could start again but nowhere else seems the same. This place makes me miss it more. So does watching shows or dancing at home or anything.
On a less depressing note, me and 5 of my friends entered a competition at school. It's actually a music competition but there's a category where you can enter dances. It isn't split up into yeargroups though. Anyway, on the day before 4 of them dropped out. The other 2 of us redid it at the last minute because the one we had needed more people and then went ahead and did it anyway. We ended up with third

Re: TSR Dance Society!^ Cool
How old are you now? I'm hoping to keep up ballet for as long as poss, even when I'm way older; hopefully I'll be able to join adult classes etc. I'm kinda late starting on pointe now, being 17 and all lol.

Re: TSR Dance Society!
I wasn't far off starting Pointe before I quit ballet. I quit ballet, tap and modern 2 years ago and quit drama, singing and jazz 1 year ago. It wasn't because I didn't like the dancing though or got sick of it or anything. From when I first started I always wanted to continue until I went off to Uni at least and then maybe continue there.

Yea im trying to keep the Ballet going for as long as possible. Its the only form of exercise i truly adore and enjoy.

I think I'll tie the ribbons on my pointe shoes later so I can really start practising in them
have you 'softened' them?? by that I mean putting them on and going through your feet - one foot onto the other??? if that make sense???
