I got hustled by people for my bank details. So sorry, but no money is left to buy my Alienware pc

Re: Alienware really worth it?This.(Original post by ForensicShoe)
Personally I'd just build a desktop. My brother built one which can run Battlefield 3 extremely smoothly on high/very high graphics settings for under £300. Then perhaps buy a mid-range laptop for £400ish?
It's so easy to build a perfectly capable gaming rig it's unreal. As long as you're not swayed by a few crappy green LEDs and shiny plastic, any sensible gamer will just self-build and buy a mid-range laptop.Last edited by jumpingjesusholycow; 25-04-2012 at 04:20. -
Re: Alienware really worth it?
I would personally much rather build my own desktop than buying a stupidly overpriced alienware. You are paying a huge premium for the brand name. Alienware are known for having pretty bad customer service as well. Spend perhaps £700 on a decent desktop, and £200 on a netbook for lectures. You will be far more satisfied with the performance for the price. Desktops are also easily upgradable, unlike a laptop, where the most you can easily do is upgrade the RAM and hard drive. Just don't be one of those people who buy an alienware thinking that they are the kings of computers, when they really are not.

Re: Alienware really worth it?
I wanna build a pc to take to uni (mainly for games like counter strike 1.6, source). I was looking into alienware but my oh my their prices are sky high. I'm just gonna build a pc myself.
To all the tech guys, do you recommend me buying a static discharge kit when building the pc?
