Sometimes I feel happy. Sometimes I feel sad. But then sometimes I get extremely sad, depressed even, to the point where I feel so terrible I feel as though I am existing or would rather not function. It's not normal.
Well, it probably isn't. But as someone who has had suicidal thoughts from as far as I can remember, I cannot imagine someone who wouldn't have terrible thoughts. And actually, I'm sure most people have terrible thoughts. They probably don't hold them to heart though.
I know exactly what you mean though by "ceasing to function."

Mmm well I don't know...I wouldn't know because I don't know what it feels like to be a normal person with a normal life and a normal life. I don't feel normality because I have never experienced.

It's taken a while, but now I realise that the way I am and the way my mind is are not normal or healthy, so that's why I am getting help.

Well, you're not alone. And I think this sometimes transpires in your personality and what you say.

Personally, it's only when someone called me insane that I realized how I was perceived by others, and that maybe there really was a "problem" with me.

But I had already started realizing that something was up, and I'm now trying to see if I can get help as well. But I don't fully believe in psychologists, I think there needs to be something else as well.

Well, I've tried anti-depressants, I've tried therapy. But I've come to realize that that alone doesn't help. My friend is a Buddhist, and I'm considering trying meditation. I've heard more than one account of meditation helping people, so...
But I think for everyone it's a different journey. You just have to try and see what suits you best.
