Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII'm feeling massive respect for Rice: 44 years is absolutely amazing, he's been a part of some of the best times the club has had.(Original post by Rafa)
Thought's on Steve Bould and Pat Rice departure? I read somewhere he's been at Arsenal for 44 years, astonishing. Truly a great servant for Arsenal.
With regards to Bould coming in, I wonder if that means if nothing will change at all, tbh. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way - we've seemed a bit stagnant lately, but I don't think we're on the road to disaster - but I do think it is far from what some people (including myself) might have had in mind when they were suggesting the likes of Bergkamp and Stojkovic; it probably rules out visions of a fresh new tactical direction, or approach to running things. Wenger mentions on the matter that 'Bould knows our football philosophy' - that pretty much sums it up for me.
Of course, there must be some degree of change, with things shaken up like this. The players will react to it in in one way or another - and perhaps he will have more of a hand, like some people hope, in our defensive issues.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
Happy birthday Dennis Bergkamp. Him and Henry were my two favourite players growing up.
To all those taking a break from revision, watch all 120 of his goals in the video below. Some great memories there, he was so composed. In the box 1 on 1 with the keeper running at him and he just slots it into the corner time and time again. Classy.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
Arghh, last game of the season coming up then. I hate this time of the year, although it hasn't been the best season, nothing quite beats the thrill of the Arsenal roller-coaster.
Of course there is the Euro's coming up, but in the footballing world only Arsenal can really stimulate my emotions like the Gooners.
Lets hope that we can finish this season on a high. If we finish 3rd then we will be in a position we could have only imagined in our wildest dreams after losing two of our best players and another through injury and being beaten 8-2 my Man Utd. and 4-3 by Blackburn.
Of course it is a couple days premature, but lets give Roy Hodgson a real Arsenal sending off with a RvP hatrick, COYG!

Heads up, there'll be a Kos interview on Arsenal.com in the morning. Phillipe Auclair interviewed him for France Football.

So if Steve Bould takes over for Pat Rice, who is going to be coaching the Youth team? -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
Ok, random question, but my dad is so anti-football and we were debating this at dinner. He asked me, 'If Wenger got sacked, became manager at a team like Liverpool, and he bought basically the entire Arsenal first team (as unlikely as it is)-Would you change your support to Liverpool?'
I know this may seem like a far-fetched concept and would never ever happen, but would you guys still support Arsenal?
My point was that with all the transfer fee paid for the players, Arsenal, with a new manager could buy even more top class players and therefore remain a top club in Europe. There would be no reason to change the team I support. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIThat's not even the right answer. It doesn't matter what player or manager we have. We could have the worst team in the world, we would still all support Arsenal. We don't support Arsenal because of Wenger or because of Henry or Fabregas or Van Persie. You support the club for what it stands for and it's values.(Original post by Novastream)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII would still support Arsenal as as I would have absolutely no connection with any other club. I've grew up in Islington (and still live in Islington) and my whole family has supported Arsenal for ever so I will continue to support them for the rest of my life no matter what.(Original post by Novastream)

It's not even the fact that we could 'buy better players', Arsenal are the team I support. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIMy dad would laugh at that answer. He doesn't understand that I love Arsenal. He thinks I just support them because they have the best players (which they don't anymore). Don't worry, asian parents have no clue about any sport.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

would love him at arsenal -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII think the rumour mill started up at the wrong time. The signing of M'Villa was always going to be dependent on whether we get CL or more specifically, 3rd to secure it. Not so much because M'Villa wouldn't come to us without it, but because we all know Wenger wouldn't spend £17million without the assurance of CL money.(Original post by Novastream)
What dya reckon the chances are of getting Mvila now? Wasn't arsene wenger denying the podolski deal too but he was bluffing. I really hope hea doing the same now too
