Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIBelhanda isn't a winger by nature. I'm sure he's an attacking midfielder.(Original post by J.Star)
I'd be happy if we sold Walcott for a good price and to a foreign league and replaced him with Belhanda. Will never happen though
so keep the lad and give him £80k p/week.
Isn't Carzola more of an attacking mid than a midfielder though?
We could do with some more creativity in the centre of the park though, would help to get the best out of Walcott and Gervinho too.
Cazorla can play on the wings. He is very competent in that position. He just adds that required versatility that we need. The amount of injuries we get, it's imperative to get players that are adaptable. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIYeah course. He is still better than anyone in Arsenal(Original post by Kruz)
But he can still offer something, not like he's completely gone. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
Barcelona have confirmed they are in negotiations to try and re-sign Miquel from us.
Not much else to speak of I guess.
Watched through the highlights of the Liebherr Cup from the other night, Gervinho looked pretty lively and I'm glad he's losing his apparent fear of shooting. -

He pretty much is tbh. He was a world class talent because of his acceleration more than his technical ability. That acceleration allowed him the extra bit of space and time and control to pick the right pass etc. without that, sadly, he is a pretty standard attacking midfielder.(Original post by Kruz)

He can never regain his physical attributes either due to the long standing injury he has, a sportsman hernia I think
It was a ridiculous move by Madrid to buy him at the time as that was pretty common knowledge then!

That was before his injury wasn't it? Kaka was great, no question. But was is the important word.(Original post by Kruz)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIYeah same he can't do it anymore, I remember first season Ronaldo did very well but Kaka was very underwhelming.(Original post by Mess.)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIYou make him sound like Walcott(Original post by Mess.)

Kaka was a lot more than just a fast player, he might not have had the tight ball control that is expected of "technical" players nowadays, but he moved the ball so fluidly that it was extremely hard for defenders to read his movements. Just look at a compilation of him, very few people manage to beat professional defenders with basic nutmegs like Kaka did at his peak.
But you´re basically right, the injuries (especially the torn knee ligaments) seem to have changed him for good. Maybe he could play another position with less 1v1 situations.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
I don't know why Wenger bothers getting players from Barca anymore. At this rate, they'll probably make an inquiry for Arteta

EDIT: Also, there are rumours that we rejected a £25 million bid from Chelsea for Walcott. It's probably not true but if it is, how much do we expect to get for him?
Clearly, Carroll to Liverpool has completely thrown out of whack what an English player should be valued at

He was born in the Basque country, but he went to play for the Barcelona B squad when he was like fourteen/fifteen(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIICould be true, they also allegedly tried to get Schürrle, looks like they´re still looking for a fast winger, I just don´t know why.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)
