Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIDamn, arsenal are going hard with signings. Lets hope this isn't like last season where you haggle over a couple million and a team sweeps the player off of you. Could actually title aim if you get sahin and cazorla.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)
News from Jeremy Wilson (Daily Telegraph):

I wonder what the other player is...

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIIt's not twitter rumours. The likes of the Guardian, Telegraph etc. are reporting that the deal will be done this week. It's way past twitter rumours.(Original post by De Chirico)
Cazorla will be such a quality signing, hope these twitter rumours aren't bull. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIISid Lowe and Rafa Honigstein both work for The Guardian and are extremely reliable. So yeah, we should sign both Sahin and Cazorla. Just hope it's enough to convince RVP that we're ambitious, maybe I'm just being too optimistic(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIYeah, I remember Mata to Arsenal got to a similar level of hype which is why I'm still a bit sceptical. Hopefully this will be put to bed tomorrow.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
I think he's saying that the newspapers are no more credible than Twitter?
Anyway, the key to finding a true Newspaper article in my experience is one that had rapid stages of progression and one that tends to come out of the blue on occasions for example most of Arsenal's transfers in the past have been reported then completed within a day or two as they seem to go through "breaking news" in the morning/afternoon, "transfer valuation breaks" and then you begin to get quotes with inside the club before official release.
The articles to avoid are recycled stories that have been re-published without any solid quotations in an attempt to keep the readers interest alive in which headlines will be aimed in different directions to keep the fire alive if you like. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
So while everyone is talking about Man United, Man City and Chelsea for the title, Arsenal have seemed to slip underneath the radar.
No worries, I am sure the anti-Arsenal media have helped brain wash you into forgetting that Arsenal have a master at the helm. Professor Arsene Wenger.
Now.... I know it may seem gloomy, (yes I am well aware of our trophy doubt, but you must taste the bitter pill of defeat and experience it for a long period... because when the success comes it'll be a much greater taste than what you could have expected).
This is a man who has defied the odds many a time. Last season we were supposed to finish mid-table... we finished third. We were supposed to finish behind Tottenham, we finished ahead of them, we were supposed to be knocked out by Udinese we beat them, we were supposed to be hammered by Man City and Chelsea, we beat them both.
Now... lets look to this coming season. Uncertainty again casts a cloud over the Arsenal empire. RvP in particular looks like he may betray us. However Arsene has moved swiftly into action, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski will sure combined make up the goals that RvP got last season, if not more.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a year older, Gervinho has even showed great promise in pre-season and this may be his year, Ramsey will obviously improve and in our midfield Arsene looks to strengthen with Cazorla set to arrive within the next few days. A loan deal for Sahin has is also in the offing.
Not to mention our young talent like Frimpong, Coquelen, Eisfeld, Miquel, Bartley, Jenkinson, Gnarby, Aneke, Afoebe... and of coarse the soon to return Jack Wilshere.
Our defence is stronger with Steve Bould here, Vermaelen and Koscielny will once again be formidable and with Sagna and Gibbs as full backs and Szczesny in goals, who knows maybe "poor defence" will be a thing of the past.
Still haven't mentioned the reliable Rosicky, the ever talented yet injury prone Diaby who is still yet to have his finest hour, Andry Arshavin who may or may not be here, Andre Santos a demon as a winger or a full back, Marouane Chamakh eager to prove his doubters wrong, Theo Walcott could this be his year?
Will RvP decide to stay.... and in the title race we'll join the fray.
Am I ambitious? Yes, Am I delusional.... probably yes. But I do have faith. Delusional faith. My faith in Wenger was decreasing last season and if we do not win anything then it'll be gone completely.
However this will be our year (please Liverpool don't sue me for using that line).
COME ON THE ARSENAL!

Since when were we "supposed to finish mid-table" last year?? -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
We'll finish 3rd/4th again this season.
Manchester clubs we'll take the top 2. London clubs we'll take the next 3.
It's not a fair playing ground, and financial doping defeats the point of fairness which applies to any sport. It's like Olympic sprinters using steroids, it simply shouldn't be allowed and should be regulated. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIITrust you to search that up

If we do get Cazorla, it will already be our strongest show of transfers we've ever had under wenger, excluding the possibilities of sahin etc. Something has definitely changed though, from the moment we made the 5 last minute signings last summer. It seems like we're addressing our problems for once. Ive always felt that wenger knew we had enough for 4th, but maybe he feels its time to genuinely challenge one last time, or we can finally 'spend' for once, the loss of rvp needing to be made up for, our rivals strengthening a lot, or even a combination of the 4.
Let's hope the transfer goes through, I'd even go as far as saying its pivotal to what we can expect this season if rvp leaves.
