Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIAhh ****.
I just wrote some long point arguing against a point no one made
Oh well lol, the points are still valid. Sahin would be a great addition to the squad and under Wenger he could really flourish but if it doesn't work out we are not in any worse of a position. Win-win really.
A new LB? Although I wouldn't mind another, as we could just push Santos forward, I feel RB is a more pressing concern. Apparently Debuchy would be available for around £6.5 million, if so, Wenger should snap him up.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)
Can people just get it out of their heads that we'll challenge for the title? The team is not good enough and won't be until we sign another striker, another (class) LB and a defensive midfielder.
What's Malaga's right back like? -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIThank you! Also, a bit of depth in CB and RB, djourou and squillaci don't count while jenkinson isn't ready yet.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII think we need one as Wenger trying out Santos as a left winger for 3 games in a row is hinting at the fact that we might be looking to get another one in.(Original post by J.Star)

Malaga's RB is Jesus Gamez. I've never paid attention to him at all. And I've never really heard of him so he can't be that good.
I don't think we should go for Debuchy. I read up that he's already 27. If we were to get a RB, the ideal age range would be 23-25 imo. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIYou did make some good points and to be fair it is quite funny(Original post by J.Star)

Debuchy is apparently now no longer for sale, Newcastle's bids were 1.5m under their asking price and they no longer want to be messed about, so their president has said he will be staying. How much truth there's to it I've no idea.
I'd like to see us push for Yanga-Mbiwa, I'm not sure on how good he is, but he's the captain for Montpellier and can play all across the back line, so can't be that bad. He's supposed to be relatively cheap too since he's got a year left on his contract and is only 23. Could be a typical Wenger signing being cheap, young and French. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIChamakh's goals in ligue 1 were mainly headers, was no surprise he couldn't shoot for **** when he came here. Giroud has much more in his locker than Chamakh ever did. Not saying he's going to be amazing, but he'll be better than Chamakh for sure.(Original post by vn2009)

Problem with chamkh is that hes very weak, no physical strength at all -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
Chamakh was available on a free transfer. It's not like Wenger identified the guy as the next big thing or anything, he was just a decent Ligue 1 player available for nothing. Wenger has seen something in Giroud that made him willing to part with £13m, so its a totally different transfer. Not to mention Giroud's superior scoring record and the fact he's a French international, so we can be optimistic. Not going to say a word on his impact on the team until I see him play in 2 weeks time however.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIINot to mention Pires, Vieira, Koscielny, Sagna...(Original post by Darth Vader 7)
I don't understand why everyone just writes of Giroud because he came from Ligue 1.
No one even considers that both Henry and Drogba (two of the best strikers ever in the Premier League) came from that very same league. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII'm just naming Drogba and Henry as all 3 play the same position. Drogba and Henry were world class players in their peaks and yet everyone would rather compare him to Chamakh than those two.(Original post by Zürich)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XII
I don't understand why people think Chamakh was a flop, for the limited time he's had, hes played really well.
Whenever we were playing badly and Wenger brought him on so we were playing him and RVP up front, we played amazing football. He just hasn't had much of a chance because of RVP. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII couldn't disagree more. After a good spell early in 10/11 Chamakh has been absolutely dire. Missing chances, not being in the right place, poor decision making and worst of all he never looks to be breaking a sweat, even for the 10-20 mins or so he usually spends on the pitch. The sad thing is no one is going to pay him the wages we do so he'll be here leeching off the club till his contract expires.(Original post by Miryo)

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIa complex that, apparently, two million tubes of hair gel haven't solved yet(Original post by marcusmerehay)
Chamakh's issue is not so much a lack of strength (as he is very good in the air).
It's more of a deep-rooted confidence issue, which his lack of goals won't have helped.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIBecause he's incredibly good, simple as that.(Original post by DisconcertingWink1)
Why would any Arsenal fan want van Persie to stay after that bull**** statement he made?!
Get rid! -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XIII don't care how good you are, you don't mug off an entire club, especially one which has always supported you both professionally and personally. His exit can't come soon enough for me.(Original post by Normandy114)
