halls at plymouth
I've got a conditional offer for business and i've recently applied for halls. However because I live so far away (4 and a half hours drive) it would be a nightmare if i didn't get in as it would be hard to arrange to come down for the 'find a home' events as we don't find out until results day!
Does anyone know how they allocate rooms after taking into account the priority students (Disabled, Medics etc) ? I'm really worried that i wont be able to find anywhere to live, i really want to live with 8-10 people so living in a small house wouldn't be my kinda thing!

I'm sort of in the same boat
I live 5 hours away but my sister lives in Plymouth, about a 10 minute walk away from the Uni but I'd love to stay in the halls because it makes life easier with meeting friends and everything else that comes with it.
I'm not sure how they allocate rooms and I'd really like to know too.
I'm sorry that I wasn't much help, I just thought it'd make you feel a little better knowing you're not alone in this situation

I'm not sure if this is much help to you but I believe 60% of those applying for halls at Plymouth receive a place. As you can only confirm a place once you have a confirmed place I would suggest getting straight onto this once confirmed is essential.
You could check with the Student Accommodation office at the Uni now to confirm how you can confirm your place when you get your results.
I want to Plymouth, some years back now, but totally loved me first year in halls. There were people allocated to take everyone out on a pub crawl on the night everyone arrived. This was a great chance to get to know everyone in my halls and kick start Uni life.
It was great having a base just a couple of minutes from the business school and right in the middle of town,
However in my second and third year I lived on Mutley plain, which was further away from Uni, around 15 minutes to walk in, but was great fun,
As I say, not sure this is much help but best of luck in getting a place sorted.

There is a psychology student in every flat you will probably get in. Why are there so many psychos around nearly, everyone I speak to does psychology!? Don't worry I got in and I'm not a medic or disabled, not sure exactly how people are chosen all I remember is applying and I only found out if I got into halls after results day. I also live 4 hours away don't know if that made a difference. -
Re: halls at plymouthdid you have to confirm your place in halls then? or was it automatically emailed to you? and how long did you wait for a reply?(Original post by chronic_fatigue)

Re: halls at plymouthI really can't remember much and it was only a year ago. I logged onto the accommodation site and it said confirmed, as in I had gotten a place then they give you instructions on how to pay the deposit and everything. I think I found out on results day or maybe a day or two after. Don't stress just focus on your exams now and think about accommodation after.(Original post by xkloii)

Re: halls at plymouthHi, I have a conditional offer and I applied for student accommodation month ago but the application didn't have any opinion to pick what sort of room I want(Original post by chronic_fatigue)

.. Will they give me a choice after I get my results or do you have to move in to the room they give you?

Re: halls at plymouthYou choose between standard, ensuite and studio. You put two down in order of preference. I think I choose when I applied. If you are having problems call the student accommodation office on 01752 588645.(Original post by Rosii294)

I've applied but got a studio flat from the uni that was far too expensive but now I've found this place http://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-house...ry-item-full-1 and will do it but only if I can find more freshers to live with me, there's four second years possibly me so need two more
