Re: Sg english exam
Hi,
I picked writing option 6, which was to write about a time when you made a fresh start, so it was a personal reflective piece.
I sat the general and credit reading papers.
I actually find it quite difficult to gauge how well (or not!) I've done. I felt I did okay, not spectacularly, but not horribly badly either.
Oh, and I wrote about four pages for the writing.Last edited by ladymarshmallow; 26-04-2012 at 15:57. -
Re: Sg english exam
I think I did fairly well in the credit reading but I didn't like the general reading at all for some reason. As for the writing, I'm not really sure.
I picked the the one where you had to write a story titled "No Fear". I think it was 16 or 17, I'm not sure.
I did the general and credit papers
I wrote about 5/6 pages -
Re: Sg english exam
I chose number 4, about describing the ruined house because I'm generally good at descriptive essays. I wrote 3 and a half pages.
General close reading was easy, Credit wasn't too bad and was definitely better than many of the past papers - without a doubt.
I'm pleased because I had time to read the passages, answer the questions and check them over! I'm so happy it's over! Especially since I'm only 14 haha! -
Re: Sg english exam
how do you think you done? - Good in reading, not so good in writing :/
what writing question did you pick? number 6
what levels did you sit for reading? credit and general
how many pages did you write?4 and a bit
I found the credit easier than the general, could be because we only practise credit, but i just could not get the idea of the story into my head.
I liked the credit though, found the story fascinating. -
Re: Sg english exam
I picked number 6 too and done 7 and a half! That and the weather one about being off at school number 12 were the only ones that really stood out for me , I wish I sat credit but my pastoral care teacher didn't think I should be allowed to

The general paper was really awkward at some questions urgh -
Re: Sg english examIf you found the general doable, i think you could have done the credit.(Original post by n x)

So are you doing int2 next year or are you allowed higher. -
Re: Sg english examDon't worry, close reading is only 1/6 of your overall grade. Let's say you get a 3 for close reading, would getting a 2 really make that much difference? Probably not(Original post by n x)

But good luck anyway! -
Re: Sg english examYeah I done a credit past paper and only 2/25 people in our class included me would of passed it/finished it on time!(Original post by anthonyfl)

My teacher said if I really want he's going to let me try higher next year anyway

Re: Sg english examRemember you need a 1 or a 2 in standard grade in order to be properly equipped for higher, so it's not as simple as your teacher letting you.(Original post by n x)

Edit: I didn't mean that in a bad way, just that you're better walking out with an int2 than a fail at higher

Re: Sg english exam
I picked number two for the writing, about something I had to buy. It went pretty well, I'm hoping I'll get a two for it. I sat general/credit close reading. I loved the general! I really hope I got a three, as I hated the credit and found it really hard, I think I failed! I panicked and didn't like the passage. And I wrote about six pages for the writing. I hope yours went okay

Re: Sg english examI never thumbed down but most of my folio work is credit, my talk was a credit grade and we done a credit past paper and only 2 of us including me in the class would of got it right/finished it on time(Original post by anthonyfl)

I'm still debating it though I might try it and drop to int2 if I do bad in the nabs -
Re: Sg english examAnyway, in my opinion a lot of teachers are too quick to make pupils sit foundation!(Original post by n x)

Re: Sg english exam
Writing was absolutely fine, teacher recommended we write a 'journey' type story as one like it comes up in a question almost every year. I did question 6, but could've done No Fear also-I memorised my essay, 1100 words was chuffed-I just added a few tweaks eg- adding a few references and feelings to a fresh start.
General was quite awkward and vague in some parts I felt. It came as a complete shock when the Credit was as easy as it was. A few of us were quite scared when everyone found the General easy, we all found the Credit much easier so that was pleasing
.
