    Was it easy?
it was decent - man I really need an A in this exam (barely scrapped and A at AS), am literally relying on coursework to boost my grade (fingers crossed)

did 1 and 3 - with number 3 I get the feeling I answered it wrongly
but literally talked about how thatcher legacy was not a huge factor (why else would Major have been elected if this was the case) which led to Conservative decline but majority of it had to do with rise of New Labour and divisions and lack of quality leadership in Conservative party
I did 1 and 3 aswell. I argued that Thatcher influenced the party divisions and people still remembered the poll tax riots and the inner city riots in 81. But then I talked about New Labour and the Conservatives weakness of leadership and image. I was gonna talk about Sleaze but I had no time. I also managed to fit three historians in, but I found out after that one of them was completely wrong! So I hope they don't notice.

I did this too, I mentioned how Thatcher had influenced the Maastricht treaty etc and in concerns of New Labour, I spoke about how the adopted the best parts of Thatcherite economic policies such as the privatisation of the Bank of England and the fact Labour appealed to middle england meant the Conservatives couldn't scare away voters as well as the fact the Conservative leaders were so weak and Labour scared away voters by reminding them of Thatcherism by depicting William Hague with Thatcher's hair "get out and vote or they get in" etc

I did exactly that. I said that it was the party divisions aswell as external uncontrollable events that occurs e.g. Black Wednesday..ALMOST forgot the counter-argue my point but did so by saying that HOWEVER, Thatcher's legacy in terms of alienation of her party was followed by Blair with divisions between themselves and key players e.g. howe, hesseltine and in blair, brown and euro-sceptics. Then said that in this sense thatcher's legacy was continued HOWEVER it did not cause a loss of popularity among the electorates, instead, it bought more popularity in the 2007 and allowed them to win the election.

Cannot remember the exact question something about Thatcher's legacy creating an electorate unpopularity amongst the conservatives as well as something else ...the year was 1990-2007

Good to see a fair few people did 1 and 3 as well! But I am scared I wasn't concise enough in the presentation of my argument - any ideas on grade boundaries or marks this year? Think they'll be high?

Someone told me they're lower than usual. 71 out of 90 is apparently an A* but I haven't checked this out yet. Hopefully it's true though because I got a good coursework mark and it would mean I could get 84% and get an A*

You can never tell until the day before because it generally depends on everyone's performance on the exam. You won't know until the day before results, 15h of august, so don't worry about that just CHILL and focus on the rest of your exams if you have any more and on that notes..GOOD LUCK and I wish you all the best

You know that quote, I said "had lost an empire, and had not yet found a role" lol do you think they'll give me the mark seeing as I didn't get the quote right word for word..

    4

Oh damn sorry to hear that...hopefully the rest of your essay is good enough!
Yeah, they'd be overly harsh not to give you the mark for that - it's a closed book exam and it's close enough!

I did 1 and 3 also, couldn't have asked for a better paper! I made the mistake that many seem to have done with synoptic foreign however going to 2007, but didn't make it a huge part of my argument, no negative marking either so hopefully not too much damage done!

3 was absolutely beautiful! Lots to talk about Thatcher Legacy, Con divisions over europe, black wednesday, satire sleaze and sabotage and of course, the popularity of New Labour!

Grade boundaries will probably be the same as always A* at around 73/74, A 65ish!

    Good Luck!

I did 1 and 3 and thought it went quite well I think I could've talked a little more about Thatcher's legacy in 3 but that aside I was pleased

Do you need many historian's interpretations/critics in the essay to get in the top band? I only included about 2 for the first essay, and then 3 for my second :/ Need an A!!
