Its actually really friendly, and very medicine based course etc. Labs and the teaching rooms look pretty modern! Accomodation was alright aswell, rooms have pretty nice furniture - look a bit like a show-room in ikea haha!

Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012Yep go for it! :P(Original post by Kittt)
ooh okay! so we can bombard you with questions :P
so how have you found this year, both socially and course wise? like, has the content of the course been 'manageable' etc?
The course is manageable if you keep up to date with everything as you get taught it. Easier said than done but that's uni for you!
It's do-able though! Just takes a bit of getting used to, but you'll adjust within a few weeks of being here
It is much harder than A Level, but that's expected really
On the social side of things it's brilliant! The uni is small so you get to know loads of people and really well too! There's also a Mum's and Dad's scheme so you can get to know people from other years. It's like a family :') LOL everyone's really close and the atmosphere is great! The SU are also very active and they put loads of events up, as well as the societies within the uni. I seem to have rambled on, but do ask if you have any more questions
Would be happy to help

Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012I think we'll be getting more info abt accomodation near June.(Original post by banana_smoothie)
Oh god noo... See, we had an organised trip from college to see Oxbridge, and then i thoguht As/A2 is going to be as easy as GCSE, casually predicting myself A*A*A*A*
god how stupid was I
Yeah, it went a bit pear-shaped after my As's and let's just stay that i was 'A BIT' off my prediction haha! I applied for Medicine in southampton, nottingham and east anglia, and then biomed in bradford and SGUL. I love how east anglia rejected me like a day after i applied, and then a week later said: 'we would love to have you doing dentistry in E.A, if you'd like to be considered phone us on.. bladdy bladdy blaah'... i was like: Dentistry my ass. no way. I withdrawn myself from Bradford after my uncle telling my dad that its not very safe (YAY 1 UCAS choice wasted!
) and SGUL is b etter anyways !
Oh yess! How do i even apply for accomodation ?! Not that youre going to... but maybe you have a deeper knowledge of this kinda thing
LOL at the easy as GCSE bit :P that's what i thought too.. i applied to Southampton, east anglia and Nottingham medicine too!! - got rejected by them near the end of march.. im holding my offers at SGUL for Biomed - which i really love, and can't wait for (keen on the 3 yr medicine intry) and also a place at coventry for Medical sciences which im not too keen on after i came to see SGUL.
Hows revision going?.. x -

? I got rejected by Nottingham without an interview! Bastards!!! Ditch Coventry, coem to SGUL. Unfortunately, current biomed students said that everyone is more than keen on the transfer to medicine... And even though they said up to 15 (or so) people can transfer, last 5 years or so it's only been 4-5 people
Revision ???? WHAT'S REVISION?

Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012I thought you only need jabs, when yorue doing medicine... bummer!(Original post by Kittt)

Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012yeahhh the whole 'being harder' element i'm sure everyone expects :P ah i know when i heard the mum and dad's thing i thought that was so cool! it sounds like a great way to get to know current students(Original post by sana_92)

i do have one question, on student finance it asks for the month and year that the course will end. so for me it'll be 2015, but what month should i put down? may/june/july?! -
Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012that's what i initially thought but i sweaaar someone mentioned it at the open day that we have to, cos we will still be in a hospital environment? but DONT quote me on that, i may be wrong :s! but im sure they'll provide us with the details if we actually do need the jabs!(Original post by banana_smoothie)

Haha, no you dont need to know your blood type, but after you donate blood they will send you a blood-donor card with your blood type written on it
You better find out what your parents blood type is before you receive it though... my friend found out her blood type, knowing her mams and dads.We did a cross diagram in biology and we figured out she's adopted. awkward times! But then, her dad just gave her a wrong blood type! hah

Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012
How on earth does "moving in" work....surely there is quite a lot of people with quite a lot of luggage with their parents shuttling them to uni on the same day, ALL in a very compact car park-area?? How on earth do they organise it so they don't get killed?
-
Re: St George's University London SGUL Biomedical Science prospective students 2012Yep, it's a great way to know people from upper years and they share some valuable tips on how to keep up with things etc(Original post by Kittt)

When I moved in there were current students who took my luggage right up to my room while I was given a brief tour and my keys!
