    Non-european students in OU?
Hi, I live in Israel, I always liked to study independently and I feel
I study much better just reading the books, not by attending lectures.
That's the reason I started looking for an open university.
We have an Open University in Israel but the level isn't very high IMO, I'm looking
for a Science degree, either Physics or Biochemistry

I want to check if it's recommended to study at the OU if I'm not from Europe,
on the website it seems that it will cost me a lot and maybe just complicate things,
i.e there isn't really any way of having the tests done here.

    I want to ask about:
    1. Will it cost me much more than a UK student?
    2. Does the OU have any initiatives or something regarding International students outside Europe and does it encourage it?
    3. Will it be possible to kind of batch the tests together, fly to the UK for several weeks or months each year in order to take the tests?
    4. Are there any other logistical issues or problems I'm facing?

I've added the link for International students. If you look towards the bottom of the linked page at the International partners section, you'll see that you can study British OU modules through partner institutions around the world. I tried Israel in the search box and it seems that all the science undergrad modules are available. Postgrad too!! But you'll need to email/talk to a adviser for details.

You mean the exams? The partner organisations would provide the exam venues and supervise them. You wouldn't need to come to Britain.

Outside our normal study areas: if you are resident outside OU normal study areas and your course has an end-of-course examination, you will also need to pay an additional fee for an overseas examination if you want to sit your examination in the country you are currently resident in. The overseas examination fee is charged if you:

sit your examination at an additional centre closer to your home
sit your examination in a country other than those listed above (regardless of the course fee paid)
have paid UK fees but want to sit your examination at a centre in one of the countries listed above
have paid UK fees but have a home address in Continental Europe
