Re: City vs United - The Manchester Derby (30/4/12)Somebody on sky sports before said it was the biggest game in English football history. I'm not having that.(Original post by Tommyjw)
The hype?..
The hype is how important is it, not that there is going to be 15 goals in the match or something. -

Re: City vs United - The Manchester Derby (30/4/12)You can; look what Chelsea did.(Original post by Peggles_*)
I hate everything City stand for and would love to see United show them that you can't buy titles.
lol negged by a city fan obviously -
Re: City vs United - The Manchester Derby (30/4/12)Yes, but at least Chelsea were closer to challenging Manchester United's dominance than City (minor title challenge in 1998-1999, FA Cups in 1997 and 2000, final in 2002, Cup Winners Cup in 1998). City were mid-table mediocrity.(Original post by KingGoonIan)

Besides, Blackburn did it well before Chelsea. Everyone buys the title to some extent (Newcastle almost did it themselves, as I'm sure you know). Ginola, Asprilla, Ferdinand, Shearer...they weren't free. Shearer being the most expensive player in the world at the time (up until Ronaldo a year later).Last edited by River85; 30-04-2012 at 19:15. -
Re: City vs United - The Manchester Derby (30/4/12)Look where City were before the takeover, a mid to lower tier team with no chance of improving. To get to level of United, Chelsea etc you need to spend big, there's no other way around it. Every team at the top spends A LOT of money, its just that City did it in a much shorter space of time to be able to compete and challenge for the title.(Original post by Peggles_*)

Can't wait for the game, literally buzzing. Will be interesting to see how the United defence copes with Aguero and Tevez, their pace could be deadly today.Last edited by charlie9872; 30-04-2012 at 19:14.
