Re: if you resit AQA GCSE triple science unit 1, do you get the best grade?Yes you always get the best result kept when you do a resit.(Original post by kero123)
I am completely unsure as to whether, when resitting Aqa unit 1 chemistry, biology, and chemistry GCSE, do you get the best grade or the resit result?
Thanks

Actually, you're wrong. Since 2011 youve been allowed to resit modules once on new specifications, of which you get the highest result. When you cash in, it needs to be the same time you submit atleast 40% of your qualification. The only situation where you wouldn't get the best result is resitting all three and doing worse in all three, while at the same time doing single science, since the 40% rule would be fullfilled by your ISA and one of your resits. Since you've already done them all once and not cashed in yet, it's safe to assume you're doing atleast two science gcses. I can definitely tell you, you will be allowed your best results(Original post by JamalAhmed)
He is wrong. Since 2011, you get your latest grade (resit result) not your best one. A lot of people think they will fail their resit but I have never seen anyone who didn't get a better grade in their resit.

Re: if you resit AQA GCSE triple science unit 1, do you get the best grade? If you are Y11, doing old specs then you get the best result no matter how many times you re-sit and how little you do in the exam season when you get the overall grade..(Original post by kero123)

If you are below Year 11 then you are doing new specs and the following rules apply:
Terminal rule - you have to complete 40% of the GCSE in the exam season when you get an overall grade (including the controlled assessment submitted then).
Single re-sit - you can re-sit once and the better of the 2 grades you get will count, as long as you already comply with the terminal rule. (If you did better the first time, but your re-sit was needed to comply with the terminal rule, then the re-sit will count).
