Windows Media player won't stay maxamized
I have wmp 11 and when I go to maximize the screen, it will freeze for a couple of seconds then shut itself down.
I'm using windows XP. I've tried reverting back to wmp9 but same thing happens.

Other players work fine but I want to keep wmp as I download programs from iplayer site and they only play off that.

Anyone know what I could try and do to fix this? i've looked through google but others aren't having the player actually shut itself down like mine.

Have you ran windows update to make sure you have all available updates, I was searching for this problem and someone didn't get some security updates which was causing this.

What happens when it shuts down, does it just close or do you get an error message?

Do you have any plugins? They could be corrupt.

I've never experienced this problem so I'm unsure. If you can't get it to work we could go on teamviewer and I could look myself if you want.

    quote from a site:
"It is because of a setting in your options that says "enable full screen switch"
Turn this option off and everything should be wunnerful"

Thanks it could well be my windows isn't updated as it used to work fine. My laptop battery has pretty much died so my clock doesn't work anymore.. auto updates never really get done.. Anyway I'm going to download any updates now.

And I have no error message or plug-ins.
I'll have a look through those links you gave me.

Did you try the setting in the options?

I've tried all the settings like that.
I'm currently downloading 16 windows updates -__- I'm a bit behind! I think this could be the problem as it's only been like this recently. Hopefully everything will be wunnerful after updates are installed.

    Late update!

After updating everything it still has the same problem. But I had a desktop given to me the other day and moved everything over to there so I guess it doesn't matter anymore on my old netbook. I'll just keep it for portable web browsing and things.

Thank you for your efforts in trying to get this fixed with me though. I do appreciate it.
