Advise on Having a Holiday During a 2 Year College Course (I.C.T, level 2 Extended Di
Hi, i start college in September. How much of a problem do you think it would be if i have a 2 week holiday in the following February?
Does anyone know if i would be able to attend extra lessons/ days of college or catch up when i get back?
If i was to have a 2 week break would it have a huge effect on my overall achievments on this course?
Any thoughts would be appreciated,
Billy. -

Oh God NO. I'm doing an Extended Diploma and if I missed out on 2 whole weeks of lessons I may as well just throw that project away. Though ICT is pretty easy so you may not have THAT much of an issue. Either way, I think it's stupid and you should wait until you actually have time off of college, like at Easter.

ok
I will respond
Decide what is important to you ... if you want to succeed at college then do not go on holiday ... it is, as has already been said, a stupid idea
Who do you imagine will staff these "extra lessons/days" that you think you can attend -

I signed up only to reply to this thread as I couldn't believe the 2 stupid replies you got.
I am 18 and after a year away from education, started college last september and I am about to finish the first year of study a level 3 computing course.
When I started, 1 boy was away for the FIRST 2 weeks of the beggining of the course and he caught up fine. You're going to be there for atleast 3/4 months before going away and i'm sure your tutors will be able to brief you on the work before you go away and help you catch up after. I personally wouldn't say the work moves quick enough for you to worry about getting behind too much.
I would just double check you have no exams the weeks you want to go away, and when you start just leave a note with the head of the course so they know you'll be away for those 2 weeks.
I haven't been on holiday but I haven't been at college constantly as I have to work aswell as attend college - but I've had no issues with keeping up with my work and I'm achieving mainly distinctions & but also a few merits across the board.
Don't listen to those other people, aslong as you clear it with the tutors, it won't be a problem at all

Thankyou for your helpful reply. My dad actually went and saw the head of my course and asked what he thought about our planned holiday. The head told my father it would be fine, no problem. He also said a few weeks before i go he would speak to my tutors just to let them know i would be away. My dad explained to him there was no way he wanted my schooling to be jeopardized [excuse my spelling]. Once again the head reasurred my father . Thanks again, regards Bill.

You sound like such a cretin, maybe you should take a long hard look at yourself whilst you're on holiday.
You asked for some peoples thoughts... they gave you there thoughts... you didnt like there thoughts... you had a temper tantrum..
